I have been in the practice of law in Michigan for more than 40 years. I have litigated matters in the lower and upper peninsula. I have also litigated matters in the Federal District Court for the Western District of Michigan in Grand Rapids and Marquette.
A good part of my years of practice has centered on the practice areas listed in my personal biography, as well as on litigation. I had the privilege of managing a litigation team for the Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority. This organization is a governmental authority that provides insurance coverage and other services for local governmental entities. I have provided representation for tort claims, employment claims including wrongful discharge and sexual harassment, environmental claims and many contractual matters.
The type of practice and litigation that I have been involved with runs nearly the full gamut of general civil matters and litigation. I have also been involved in domestic relations matters, especially in the division of property. I have experience in the Probate Court in civil litigation such as will contest and title regarding estate assets. I have also been involved in contested matters with state agencies at the administrative level.
Over the past several years, I have been a general civil, domestic and personal injury mediator for 8 counties which include the 13th, 19th and 46th Judicial Circuits. As a result of this experience, I have gained additional techniques and practices used by successful lawyers in regards to litigated matters.
It is my practice to limit the number of matters that I handle at any given time for the important reason that careful attention and time is necessary in order to bring about a successful conclusion of any legal matter. I do not overload myself and this enables me to give your matter the attention it needs.
I can offer references upon request.
My office is located in downtown Traverse City and is conveniently located to parking, lodging and restaurants. When you call my office, you speak directly to me and not an intermediary. All office conferences are conducted by me. I realize that legal matters can be stressful and expensive. With this in mind, I try to use my best efforts to alleviate this stress and costly experience and achieve a satisfactory result.
