Anthony Nuzzo, Jr.

Managing Partner

Attorney Anthony Nuzzo, Jr. is the Managing Partner of Nuzzo & Roberts, LLC. Attorney Nuzzo is a recognized leader in the Connecticut legal community. His practice is focused in the areas of professional liability, insurance coverage, insurance bad faith and insurance defense. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and listed in CT Super Lawyers.

Throughout his career, Attorney Nuzzo has been active in a number of professional organizations, including the New Haven County Bar Association, where he served as president from 1998 to 1999; the Connecticut Bar Association; the American Bar Association; the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association, where he served as director in 1988 and president in 1994; the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

Prior to establishing his practice in Connecticut, Attorney Nuzzo served as a public defender in the District of Columbia from 1968 to 1970. He is admitted to practice in the state of Connecticut and the District of Columbia. He is also admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. A lifelong Husky fan, Mr. Nuzzo received his J.D. in 1968 and his B.A. in Economics in 1965 from the University of Connecticut.

Attorney Nuzzo lectures and writes periodically on the subjects of professional malpractice and insurance defense. He is the author of "Avoid Legal Malpractice Claims by Doing the Obvious."

Richard A. Roberts

Senior Partner

Attorney Roberts is a senior partner with Nuzzo & Roberts. His practice is focused in insurance defense, professional liability, contractor liability and product liability. He has tried numerous cases and argued over 15 appeals. He is A-V rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been listed in Connecticut and New England Super Lawyers for the past six years.

Attorney Roberts is currently president of the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association. He is also past-president of the New Haven County Bar Association, has been on its Executive Committee since 2001, and has chaired its Membership and Public Service Committees. He sits on the Civil Justice Commission with all presiding judges of Connecticut's State Courts. He is on the Executive Board of the New Haven Bar Community Foundation and is a fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation. He was ABA Young Lawyers Division District Representative and President of the New Haven Young Lawyers. He was awarded Outstanding Big Brother of the Year for enacting a project encouraging attorney volunteers in the Big Brother/Big Sister program.

Attorney Roberts received his J.D. in 1983 from the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board, and his B.A. in 1979 from the State University of New York at Binghamton. Attorney Roberts was admitted in Connecticut in 1984, the District Court for the District of Connecticut in 1985, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in 2006, and the Supreme Court of the United States in 2008.

Attorney Roberts was a Lecturer in Legal Studies at Quinnipiac College, and speaks frequently on topics including "Advanced Personal Injury," "Personal Injury Settlements," "Premises Liability: The Defense Perspective," "Most Common Mistakes Made Handling Claims," "Nuts and Bolts of Tort Law," "Third Party Practice" and "Preparing and Trying the Automobile Accident Case." David J. Weil

Attorney David Weil joined the firm in 1989 and is now a Partner at Nuzzo & Roberts, LLC. He graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in 1982 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Government, and with a J.D. from George Washington University in 1988, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board. In 1988 he was admitted to the Connecticut State Bar, New Jersey State Bar and New Jersey District Court. Attorney Weil heads the Workers' Compensation Department and his focus is with insurance companies and third party administrators in the representation of employers in workers' compensation claims. He has represented these parties at informal hearings, preformal hearings and formal hearings. He has also successfully appealed cases to the Connecticut Compensation Review Board and Connecticut Appellate Court, including Masko v. Wallingford, 67 Conn. App. 276 (2001) and Donlin v. Cytec Industries, 77 Conn. App. 903 (2003).

Attorney Jane Bietz joined the firm in 1994 and is a Partner at Nuzzo & Roberts, LLC. Nicole C. Chomiak

Attorney Nicole Chomiak joined the firm in 1998 and is a Partner at Nuzzo & Roberts, LLC. She received her B.S. in Marketing from Providence College in 1994, and graduated cum laude from Quinnipiac College School of Law in 1997. While at Quinnipiac, Attorney Chomiak served as the marketing editor for the Quinnipiac Probate Law Journal and received the school's Academic Excellence Award.

Attorney Chomiak was admitted to the Connecticut State Bar and Massachusetts State Bar in 1997. She was admitted to the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut in 1998, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit in 2008. Attorney Chomiak focuses on the areas of insurance defense, employment litigation, civil rights and municipal liability. She also defends cases filed with the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Attorney Chomiak has tried several cases in the Connecticut Courts and has argued appeals with the Connecticut Appellate Court. Additionally, Ms. Chomiak was instrumental in the writing of the appellate brief on Ricci v. DeStefano, which was appealed to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Amber J. Hines

Attorney Kelly Gaertner is a Senior Attorney at Nuzzo & Roberts, LLC. She obtained her B.A. from Rutgers University in 2000 in Political Science and Spanish, and she graduated cum laude from the Seton Hall School of Law in 2006. While in law school, Attorney Gaertner was a member of the Women's Law Forum and the International Law Society.
