Marc Laredo brings his strategic legal approach to business litigation, general business law and employment law. He represents clients in a wide array of business disputes, including commercial contract cases, disputes in closely held corporations, business torts, executive employment and non-competition litigation, government investigations, commercial real estate matters, and construction cases. In addition, he serves as counsel to closely held businesses, advising them on issues such as the initial formation and maintenance of the business entity, contract and employment matters, as well as crisis situations.
Mr. Laredo is a member of the Editorial Board of the Massachusetts Law Review and serves as Book Review Editor. He is the author of "The Attorney-Client Privilege in the Business Context" and "Shareholder Duties and Disputes in Closely Held Corporations in Massachusetts," both published by the Massachusetts Law Review and has taught at numerous continuing legal education programs.
Mr. Laredo was named to the Massachusetts Super Lawyers list by the Thomson Reuters rating service in 2014 and has received that designation, awarded to no more than 5% of lawyers in the state, every year since 2005. He is AV-rated by the Martindale-Hubbell Legal Directory, its highest rating for legal ability and professional ethics.
Early in his career, Mr. Laredo served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Bureau of the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office.
Mr. Laredo is a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He lives in Newton with his wife and they have three children.

Mark Smith concentrates his practice in white-collar crime, government investigations, and business litigation and regulation. He vigorously defends individuals and businesses during all stages of criminal and other government enforcement actions and in business litigation matters.
Before entering private practice, Mr. Smith spent more than a decade as an Assistant Attorney General in the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office where as Deputy Chief of the Criminal Bureau he supervised over fifty prosecutors assigned to the Environmental Crimes Strike Force, Public Integrity Division, Economic Crimes Division, and the High Technology Crimes Unit. He oversaw the prosecution of more than one hundred public corruption cases and personally tried cases ranging from securities fraud to public corruption offenses. He also acted as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in joint federal and state criminal investigations and prosecutions.
Prior to his work for the Attorney General's office, Mr. Smith served as a public defender in New York City and clerked for a trial judge of the New York State Supreme Court. He is active in the Boston Bar Association, currently serving on the Association's Council and as a Chairman of the Education Committee. He is a former Co-Chair of the Criminal Law Section and has also served as chairman of several continuing education programs. Mr. Smith has been named to the Massachusetts Super Lawyers list since 2010 by the Thomson Reuters rating service, a recognition awarded to no more than 5% of lawyers in the state.
Mr. Smith is a graduate of St. Lawrence University and Suffolk University Law School. He lives in Scituate with his wife and their two children.

Jose Sierra brings a breadth of experience as an in-house attorney, outside practitioner and trial attorney in the U.S. Attorney's Office to his work with clients at Laredo & Smith, LLP. He has more than a dozen years' experience advising pharmaceutical company executives, audit committees and corporate directors on legal, employment, compliance and business strategies.
Prior to his work at Laredo & Smith, Mr. Sierra was a Principal at Fish & Richardson, where he represented clients under government investigation, litigated shareholder and business disputes, and counseled life science and healthcare companies on compliance. He was the Chief Compliance Officer for Sepracor (now Sunovion) and Kos Pharmaceuticals, establishing those companies' compliance departments, and was previously Director of Litigation at Schering-Plough. Mr. Sierra spent a dozen years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Newark, NJ, investigating and trying numerous high profile cases. Following law school he served as clerk to the Honorable Reynaldo G. Garza, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and taught White Collar Crime at Rutgers Law School.
Mr. Sierra frequently speaks on corporate compliance, whistleblowing and corporate investigations, and writes a blog, Pharmarisc, which provides cutting-edge analysis on legal and compliance issues in the life science industries.
He has been admitted to the state bar in Massachusetts, Delaware, New Jersey and New York and to the federal bar in the Districts of Massachusetts, Delaware, and New Jersey, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals, Third Circuit.
Mr. Sierra is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Cornell Law School. A native of Washington, D.C., Mr. Sierra lives with his wife and children in the Boston area. He is fluent in Spanish.
Jessica joined Laredo & Smith after graduating from Boston College Law School. There she served as a research assistant to two Boston College law professors, was president of Law Students for Reproductive Justice and was a member of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association.
Jessica is a magna cum laude graduate of Hamilton College where she won the Earl H. Wright Prize for Excellence in Public Discourse and Advocacy, among other honors.
Jessica grew up in Somerville and currently lives in Boston.
