Paul J. Manion

Paul J. Manion is one of the co-founding partners and current president of the Firm. He is an experienced trial attorney specializing in the areas of medical, dental, legal and pharmaceutical malpractice defense.

In addition, Mr. Manion has an active and successful civil litigation practice defending corporations, business owners and individuals in complex litigation, commercial disputes, premises liability, product liability, construction liability and indemnity, trucking and transportation litigation, employment discrimination, and other general civil claims.

Mr. Manion is a member of the the State Bar of Michigan, Defense Research Institute, the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel and the Association of Defense Trial Counsel. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and its Tort and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) and Professionals' Officers' and Directors' Liability Committee. He is Peer Review rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell for the past 25 years.

He is also a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is a member of the United States Supreme Court Historical Society. He also serves as an evaluator for the Wayne County Mediation Tribunal and is Chairperson of its Defense Selection Committee.

He is a founding member of the Incorporated Society of Irish American Lawyers and a member of the Catholic Lawyers Society and the American Constitution Society. He is a senior staff attorney at the Most Holy Trinity Free Legal Aid Clinic. He is a longtime board member of the Trinity Community Services and Education Foundation.

Alvin A. Rutledge

Alvin A. Rutledge is the founder and former President of the Firm. He is a seasoned and skillful litigation and trial attorney specializing in the defense of professional negligence claims, complex litigation, construction liability and indemnity, product liability, fires and explosions, insurance coverage disputes, environmental contamination claims/toxic torts, trucking and transportation litigation, commercial disputes, premises liability and other general liability claims.

Mr. Rutledge has successfully tried hundreds of cases throughout Michigan. He also routinely acts an arbitrator, facilitator and mediator in cases involving personal injuries, professional negligence, product liability and commercial disputes.

Mr. Rutledge is a member of the State Bar of Michigan (Committee on the Quality of Professional Life), Fellows of the State Bar of Michigan and the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (a limited membership/invitation only organization).
He is also a founder and past Chairman of the Board of Eagle International Associates, Inc., an international association of attorneys specializing in civil litigation defense. In conjunction with Eagle, Mr. Rutledge had made presentations to various groups in the United States, England and France on product liability litigation. He also serves as an evaluator for the Wayne County Case Evaluation Tribunal.

Christopher L. Terry

Christopher L. Terry specializes in the defense of insurance carriers in all forms of first party litigation, including coverage disputes with policyholders, suits alleging "bad faith" and no-fault claims alleging traumatic brain injury.
He has lectured and conducted various seminars for attorneys and insurance professionals on these issues in Michigan, Illinois and Minnesota. Mr. Terry also has extensive experience in complex commercial litigation, trucking and transportation litigation, construction liability and indemnity, and professional negligence claims. He has also represented numerous employers in defense of actions alleging unlawful discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful discharge.

David M. Thomas

Anthony J. Calati

Anthony J. Calati is an experienced litigation and trial attorney and heads the firm's mass tort section. He is also the firm's technology director and has used that expertise to develop fluid databases necessary for litigating mass tort claims.

Mr. Calati is national coordinating counsel for multiple defendants in asbestos litigation and was instrumental in developing factual and liability defenses for pump and plumbing product manufacturers.

In addition to his activities as national counsel in asbestos litigation, he regularly defends professional liability claims involving civil engineers, architects, surveyors and appraisers, general liability claims, construction defects (mold, lead) and trucking accidents. He has lectured on successor corporate liability and the application and implementation of defenses available under the Michigan Product Liability Act in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

Matthew A. Dora A. Wilkerson

Dora A. Wilkerson is an experienced litigation and trial attorney who focuses her practice in defense of general and professional liability matters.

She has successfully defended claims brought against property appraisers, real estate brokers and salespersons, attorneys, physicians and dentists, nursing homes, restaurants, food manufacturers, automobile drivers, landlords and governmental entities. Joseph J. Amy E. Schlotterer

Amy E. Schlotterer is a talented litigation and trial attorney who has defended a variety of clients in medical malpractice actions, third party automobile negligence claims, as well as employment, premises liability, professional liability, civil rights and general negligence claims.

Hannah McAuliffe Doherty is a recent graduate of Wayne State University Law School.

She received an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.

Before attending law school, she spent a year as an Americorps/VISTA volunteer at the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago.
