Miranda Lathrop Barber

Solano County Family Law attorney:
Ms. Barber focuses her practice on family law and is board certified as a Family Law Specialist through the State Bar of California's Board of Legal Specialization. Ms. Barber represents clients on all issues related to dissolution of marriagw (divorce) and determination of parentage cases, including: custody, child support, spousal support, and property division. She also represents parties in domestic violence and civil harassment restraining order matters. Ms. Barber has experience in grandparent visitation cases under Family Code as well as both agreed upon and contested guardianship of the person cases brought under the Probate Code. Ms. Barber has received over 40 hours of training in mediation and offers mediation services as part of her practice. She has also completed training in collaborative divorce.

Ms. Barber has worked with the Solano County Court as a court appointed family law mediator, serves as a pro tem small claimsjudge, and previously served as an on-call pro tem domestic-violence judge prior to the court terminating that program. She also completed extensive training in representing children in 2008 and 2009 and served on the court's panel for appointment as minor's counsel from 2008-2010.

Charles B. Wood

Attorney Charles Wood is a new addition to the legal team at Mattice Law Offices. Mr. Wood is a seventeen year attorney, who has served as a Deputy District Attorney, Deputy County Counsel, and was with one of the leading Solano County Business, Real Estate and Estate law firms for nine years before coming to Mattice Law Offices in late 2009. In addition to nearly fifteen years as a government then a private practice attorney in Solano County, Mr. Wood practiced as a bilingual attorney for a general law firm in San Francisco, and was a successful real estate agent before attending law school. Mr. Wood grew up in Solano County, currently serves the community in several capacities, and is raising his children in the Fairfield-Suisun community.

Cynthia M. Kairys

Family Law Attorney:
Cynthia Kairys obtained her juris doctor from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles in 1989. She graduated magna cum laude from Loyola Marymount University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. During law school, she was nominated for best brief in the Moot Court competition. In addition, Ms. Kairys worked as a law clerk with the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office.

Ms. Kairys has been an attorney for over 22 years. She practiced criminal law at both the trial and appellate levels in Los Angeles County for seven years, before coming to Napa County in 1997. Ms. Kairys represented both adults and juveniles in all types of criminal matters, including homicides, drug offenses, assault and battery, domestic violence, driving under the influence, theft crimes, fraud, and sex crimes.

In addition to substantial knowledge of criminal procedure and trial work, Ms. Kairys has 14 years of experience handling criminal appellate cases. Before joining Mattice Law Offices, Ms. Kairys represented criminal defendants in numerous petitions for writ of habeas corpus, mandate, prohibition and review in the appellate courts.

Ms. Kairys brings her extensive trial and appellate experience to the team at Mattice Law Offices, where she focuses on family law.
