Cynthia Sass

Cynthia N. Sass, Esquire, is the sole shareholder of the Sass Law Firm, a five-attorney firm based in Tampa, Florida. Cynthia Sass obtained her law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1987 and graduated from Smith College. She was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1987. She is also admitted to the United States Supreme Court, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Court for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. Since 1990, Cynthia Sass has limited her practice to labor and employment matters.

Ms. Sass has been active in the litigation of employment discrimination cases in various federal and state courts, and has significant experience in all aspects of the practice of employment law. One of Cynthia Sass' age discrimination cases is listed in Verdict Search's Top Florida Verdicts & Settlements of 2011.

Cynthia Sass is currently a member of the Florida Supreme Court Committee on Standard Jury Instructions, and is Employee Co-Chair of the Technology Sub-Committee of the Employment Rights and Responsibilities Section of the American Bar Association's Labor & Employment Law's Employment Rights and Responsibilities Section. She is also Employee Co-Chair of the American Bar Association Labor & Employment Law Employment-at-Will Subcommittee, as well as a Board Member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association's Trial Lawyer Section. She is the past Chair of The Florida Bar Labor and Employment Law Section for 2006-2007, served as its Legal Education Chair in 2004-2005, and the CLE Chair for 2003-2004. Cynthia Sass was President of the Florida Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association, also called Florida NELA, in 1999-2000. Florida NELA is the state chapter of a national organization of lawyers who represent individual employees in cases involving employment discrimination, wrongful termination, employee benefits and other employment-related matters. Cynthia Sass also served as co-Chair of the Individual Rights Committee of the Labor and Employment Law Section of The Florida Bar and was appointed an Executive Council Member in 1998. Additionally, Ms. Sass is a Federal Mediator/Florida Supreme Court Mediator Circuit Civil.

Martindale-Hubbell rates Cynthia Sass as an AV attorney, which is its highest ranking, and also lists her on its Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. She was also included on its Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers. Ms. Sass' firm is also included in the U.S. News & World Report - Best Lawyers under Best Law Firms for 2011-2014. In November 2011 she was inducted as a Fellow of The College of Labor & Employment Lawyers. The Best Lawyers in America has named Cynthia Sass as one of the best attorneys in the country since 2006. Florida Trend magazine selected Ms. Sass as one of their Legal Elite in the area of labor and employment law for eight years. She also has been named a Florida Super Lawyer starting in 2006, and made their Top 50 Women in Florida list since 2008. Since 2009 she was included in Marquis Who's Who in American Law. The July/August 2008 edition of Tampa Bay Magazine identified Cynthia Sass as one of The Best Attorneys in the Tampa Bay Area as compiled by Woodward & White.

Janet E. Wise

Janet Wise obtained her law degree from Georgia State University College of Law in 1992 and graduated cum laude from Newberry College. She is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by The Florida Bar and has been practicing in this area of law since 1992 and is admitted to The Florida Bar, the State Bar of Georgia, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, as well the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Janet Wise is past President of the Florida Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association (2007-2008), as well as current co-chair of the Ethics and Sanctions Committee of the National Employment Lawyers Association. Ms. Wise was recently noted as a Rising Star by Florida Super Lawyers.

Jennifer D. Zumarraga

Jennifer Zumarraga graduated magna cum laude from Florida State University College of Law in 2000, and cum laude from the University of Florida in 1996. Jennifer Zumarraga is admitted to practice in the State of Florida and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

She is a member of The Florida Bar Labor and Employment Law Section and the Florida Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association. Jennifer Zumarraga has practiced in the area of employment law since 2001.

Yvette D. Everhart

Yvette Everhart graduated from Stetson University College of Law in 2006, and cum laude from Stetson University in 2003. Ms. Everhart is admitted to practice in the State of Florida and the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida.

Yvette Everhart is a member of The Florida Bar Labor and Employment Law Section, and their Young Lawyers Division. She is also a member of the Communications sub-committee of the Labor and Employment Law Section of The Florida Bar. Yvette Everhart is a current member and past President of the Florida Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association, was President-Elect for 2011-2012, and served as Vice President of Programming in 2010-2011. Ms. Everhart is also a member of the Federal Bar Association. In 2006, she was the recipient of both The Florida Bar Labor and Employment Law Dean W. Gary Vause Award and the Stetson University College of Law Judge Alexander Paskay Bankruptcy Award.

Joshua Kersey

Joshua Kersey has practiced in the area of labor and employment law his entire career. He originally joined the firm in 2010 as a law clerk, becoming an associate attorney upon his admission to The Florida Bar in 2011. In 2013 he traveled to Dallas, Texas where he gained admission to the State of Texas Bar. During his time in Texas, Mr. Kersey represented several national and international labor unions, while continuing to represent plaintiffs in a wide range of employment-related litigation.

Before rejoining the firm in 2016, Mr. Kersey returned to Florida and began advising local, national and international employers as to best employment practices. He also represented those employers in court and before a variety of administrative agencies at every level in more than 12 states across the country.

Mr. Kersey has been invited to speak at employment law educational conferences hosted by the National Employment Lawyer's Association, the State Bar of Georgia, and the National Business Institute. He graduated from Stetson University College of Law in 2010, and from Florida State University in 2007. Mr. Kersey is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Middle District of Florida and the Northern District of Texas. Mr. Kersey is a member of The Florida Bar Labor and Employment Law Section, and is also a member of the Florida Chapter of the National Association of Employment Lawyers, also known as Florida NELA.
