"Small Town Service. Big City Experience" is a promise we make to our clients. When we tell our clients, "We'll take care of you," we mean it.

Our firm was formed by first cousins Sam Dixon and Sanford Thompson. Our attorneys were born and reared in Eastern North Carolina. Mr. Dixon and Mr. Thompson both worked for large Raleigh law firms that represented insurance companies and major corporations. They gained solid legal skills working on all kinds of large, complex cases. However, they were not satisfied at how impersonal big law firms could be, and they wanted to represent people, families, and small businesses. Mr. Dixon moved home to Edenton in 1990, and Mr. Thompson went out on his own in 1992.

For years before forming Dixon & Thompson Law PLLC, Sam Dixon and Sanford Thompson often teamed up, and they have represented many clients in Northeastern North Carolina. They saw a need in Northeastern North Carolina for a firm fully committed to delivering the highest quality legal work with the personal, individualized service of a small town practice so they formed Dixon & Thompson Law PLLC.

Sanford Thompson

Born and raised in Eastern North Carolina, the attorneys at Dixon & Thompson Law give their clients straight-forward advice and quality legal representation. Call us at 252-482-8696 during business hours, or contact us anytime.

Sanford Thompson grew up in Raleigh and attended public schools. He graduated from UNC in 1977 and from UNC Law School in 1980.

He returned to Raleigh in 1980 and practiced at the largest law firm in North Carolina which exclusively represented insurance companies and corporations for 11 years. Thompson handled large accident cases; represented trucking companies and truck drivers; defended hospitals and doctors; represented product manufacturers; defended retail stores and businesses; and represented insurance companies and insurance agencies against their policyholders and clients.

He tried many cases and handled many appeals but decided he instead wanted to help people and stop fighting against individuals, families, and small businesses.

After "changing sides" in 1992, Thompson used what he learned to help people and small businesses get what they deserve. His practice is limited to only those type cases where he has strong experience, and he controls his work load to give his clients the best possible representation.

Thompson and his wife have three children. Despite the passion for his job and commitment to his clients, he says he stays fresh by devoting time to my family and life outside the office, including time with church and friends. "I enjoy golf, fishing, yoga, and exercise. Keeping balance in my life helps me empathize and serve my clients better," he said.
