What distinguishes your law firm from others?

We are focused on representing those who find themselves facing a seemingly insurmountable giant.

Our firm consists of attorneys, Charles Williamson Barfoot, Benjamin Edward Schoettker and Kristina "Ashley" Granger. Will, Ben and Ashley attended law school at Jones School of Law in Montgomery, Alabama. During law school, Will and Ben took positions at a large plaintiff's firm located in the south where they gained valuable experience in the area of civil litigation. Upon passing the Alabama State Bar Will continued to work in the field of civil litigation while, Ben took a position as a Assistant Deputy District Attorney in Montgomery, Alabama. In 2004, Will and Ben decided to partner together and established the law firm of Barfoot & Schoettker, L.L.C. Ashley began working at the firm during law school as a legal assistant, upon passing the Bar she joined the firm as an associate attorney.

Benjamin Schoettker

Ben is an experienced trial lawyer. He has handled numerous jury trials in the State of Alabama in both State and Federal Court. A few of his successes include verdicts of not guilty in trials involving Murder, Robbery, Theft of Property, Fraudulent use of a Credit Card, Domestic Violence, Harassment, Reckless Endangerment, Menacing, Driving Under the Influence and others. Ben also litigates personal injury cases were he has been successful in obtaining awards for people who have suffered injury due to the negligence of others.

He is an experienced negotiator as well, able to resolve cases without a trial when appropriate. His skill in negotiating on behalf of his clients has resulted in numerous criminal matters being dismissed by the prosecution and obtaining monetary settlements for his civil clients. He is a compassionate counselor that works to understand his clients legal battles and resolve them.

Ben was born and raised in Hollywood, Florida. After graduating from High School he came to Montgomery, Alabama on an athletic scholarship for baseball at Huntingdon College. He later attended Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, graduating in 2001 with a Juris Doctor degree. He began his legal career as an Assistant Deputy District Attorney in Montgomery County Alabama. In 2004, Ben became a founding partner in Barfoot & Schoettker, L.L.C. In 2007 Ben began serving as a Temporary Probate Judge in Montgomery County Alabama, a privilege he still maintains today. He served as President of both the Montgomery County Bar Association and the Montgomery County Trial Lawyers Association. Ben is married to the former Kimberly McWhorter and a proud father of their oldest daughter Neva Marie, son Samuel Benjamin and youngest daughter Clara Kae. He and his family are members of Trinity Presbyterian Church and currently serve in the children's ministry. He enjoys fly fishing and turkey hunting as hobbies.

Will Barfoot

Charles Williamson "Will" Barfoot grew up in Pike Road, Alabama and has lived in Montgomery County all of his life. He attended Auburn University Montgomery where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies in 1995. Will then went onto law school at Jones School of Law in Montgomery, Alabama, receiving his Juris Doctorate in 2001. While in law school Will clerked for the law firm of Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C. After passing the bar exam, Will continued his employment with the Beasley firm as an Associate Attorney until he started his own firm as a solo practitioner.

In 2004, Will and Ben together founded Barfoot and Schoettker, L.L.C., where Will represents clients involved in automobile collisions, wrongful deaths, premise liability claims, general civil litigation, probate matters, juvenile matters and criminal cases.

In the summer of 1988 Will was fortunate to be selected to represent the State of Alabama on a student exchange trip to the former Soviet Union. In 2005 Will served as a temporary Judge of Probate for Montgomery County. In 2006 Will was a candidate for the Republican nomination for Senate in Alabama's 25th District. Will has served on the Alabama Republican Executive Committee and in 2008 Will was elected by the voters in Alabama's 3rd Congressional District to serve as a delegate for Gov. Mike Huckabee at the National Republican Party Convention. Will also served as legal counsel for Gov. Mike Huckabee during the 2008 Alabama Republican Presidential Primary. Will remains active in the Republican Party and is currently a member of the Montgomery County Republican Executive Committee.

Will previously served on the City of Montgomery Board of Adjustments and as Vice President of the Board for Capitol Heights Place. Will is married to Kathy Barfoot and they have five children- Erica, Reagan, Bankston, Ellie and Jeb. Will and his family are former members of Capitol Heights Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and are now members of Thorington Road Baptist Church where he serves on the Budget and Finance Committee.

Will enjoys spending time with his family, history, politics, hunting, agriculture and music of all types.

Ashley Granger

Kristina "Ashley" Granger was raised in Orange, Texas. Ashley obtained an Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Lamar State College-Orange where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She also attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice.

Ashley then went on to attend Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, graduating with her Juris Doctor in 2015. During law school, she served on the Jones Law Review, participated in both the moot court and trial advocacy programs, and won the 2013 National Championship at the Lone Star Classic trial competition as well as Best Opening Statement. Ashley has been with the firm since 2013 and handles the BP Gulf Oil Spill Class Action Lawsuit. She is married to Ryan Granger and they have one son, Braxyn.
