No Fault Definition

1) A type of divorce, now available in all states, in which neither party must prove that the other is at fault in order to obtain a divorce; see no-fault divorce.

2) A type of car insurance (often called "personal injury protection" or "PIP" coverage) that is required of car owners in around a dozen states, and is usually available as a coverage option elsewhere. Under no-fault, after a car accident the vehicle owner/policyholder makes an injury claim with their own car insurance company, regardless of who caused the crash; see no-fault insurance.
