Justiciable Definition

A matter which is capable of being decided by a court. If a matter is justiciable, it might be said to present a "justiciable question," or to involve a "justiciable case." A matter can be found to be "nonjusticiable" (not capable of being decided by a court) for a variety of reasons. For example, a case might be nonjusticiable if it involves a "political question" (as opposed to a legal question) or if the party bringing the lawsuit lacks "standing" to sue.
