Contempt of court (also called "contempt") is behavior that violates a court order or otherwise disrupts or shows disregard for the court. Examples of contempt include refusing to pay court-ordered child support, ignoring a subpoena, and refusing to testify after being ordered to testify by a judge. Penalties for contempt include fines and jail time.
