Telephonic or Video 341 Meeting Requirement Extended During Coronavirus Outbreak

June 12, 2020. The U.S. Trustee Program extends and modifies the previous order disallowing in-person creditor meetings.

On June 12, 2020, the U.S. Trustee Program issued a new notice extending a prior order canceling all in-person 341 meetings of creditors. Bankruptcy trustees are to keep holding creditor meetings by telephone or video until October 10, 2020; however, a trustee now can request authorization to continue a 341 meeting of creditors to an in-person appearance, when necessary.

Bankruptcy courts remain operational, and all courts have modified 341 appearances to comply with the new notice. Changes to entrance, filing, motion hearing, and other procedures adopted on a court-by-court basis are posted online. You can use the Federal Court Tracker to find your court’s location and website.

The 341 meeting of creditors is an appearance all bankruptcy filers must attend. Learn more in Meeting of Creditors (341 Hearing).
