Under the Federal Housing Administration’s (FHA) foreclosure and eviction moratorium, landlords who own FHA-insured single family properties cannot evict tenants until June 30, 2021. Landlords can, however, evict anyone living in a vacant or abandoned property. This is the fifth extension of the moratorium that was put in place under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) which became law on March 27, 2020.
Many states and cities have also enacted emergency bans on evictions and other tenant protections due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Even if a federal moratorium does not apply, one of these might.
