Special Alert for California Trust Makers

Revised instructions for California trust makers:

If you plan to sign and notarize your trust in California, download and print the revised California Notary Acknowledgement Certificate.

As of January 1, 2015, California requires new language on its notary certificates. So, when you make your trust with Make Your Own Living Trust or Special Needs Trusts, remove the notary certificate currently appended to the trust document. Then print out the California acknowledgement certificate linked above, and bring this revised certificate when you go to the notary public to have your trust notarized. The notary may use that form to notarize your trust, or he or she may to use another standard form.
