How Do I Integrate My PFL Benefits With Vacation or PTO?

Because it will take some coordination to integrate your benefits, you will typically need to talk your supervisor or HR department. Simply requesting the PTO or vacation in your employer’s regular online system, for example, usually won’t work (because you will need 45% of a PTO day). Then, when you fill out your California PFL application, you will need to indicate that you are “integrating” your benefits. In response to question A21 of the Paid Family Leave Form (DE 2501F) (or its online counterpart), you should say whether you are using sick pay, vacation pay, or another employer benefit.
