Can an Undocumented Person Get a Driver's License

A U.S. drivers' license is an important document, often used as proof of identity in situations that have nothing to do with driving. Such licenses are, therefore, typically denied to undocumented immigrants. Nevertheless, a few states have passed laws allowing people lacking immigration status to obtain something very like a drivers' license--which is, at a minimum, useful to undocumented immigrants who need to drive a vehicle in that state.
