How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

I decided on focusing primarily on nursing home neglect and abuse law because I feel it is the one area of the law where the average client needs the most help. My average client is an elderly person who is in the twilight of his or her life. They can no longer care for themselves and so they are i a nursing home where they are to receive care and comfort. Instead, they too often receive neglect, maltreatment and in some cases, outright abuse. I saw this early in my career and realized that I can help even the playing field. When I take a case on, I put myself in the shoes of a son or daughter whose parent is in a nursing home. I find it unacceptable that any family has to experience a loved one being victimized. I find it very easy to fight for people like that.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others?

Most lawyers practicing today have never seen the inside of a courtroom. I have tried cases to a jury in counties throughout the State of New Jersey. My trial experience allows me to play hardball with the insurance company lawyers. It is very simple. If a lawyer is afraid to go to trial, he or she is more likely to take what the insurance company is offering. On the other hand, if the lawyer is not afraid of trial, and has experience in trying cases, the insurance company knows this and they will generally settle for more.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

Personal Service. I make it a point to call or e-mail my clients on a regular basis. I invite my clients to come into the office, without an appointment, and ask any questions you may have about the case. I even go to my clients' homes if the client can't get out. We treat our client's like family.

Kevin Meehan

Kevin Meehan's clients and colleagues know him as an experienced trial attorney with an outstanding work ethic. Kevin began his practice in 1998 after having worked his way through both college and law school. He brings that work ethic with him in his trial and litigation practice. While he spends long hours working on his clients' cases, he spends just as much time with his wife, three children and three dogs. Kevin is an avid golfer whose career highlight is a hole in one that was luckily attained on June 20, 2010 (and he has the picture to prove it). Kevin can be reached at kevin@kmeehanlaw.com
