Jon Clarke is a second-generation Colorado bankruptcy lawyer, his father was a "pioneer" Denver Chapter 7 and 11 lawyer in the 1950s and 1960s while Joh was growing up in the Park Hill section of east Denver. After graduating from East High School, attending Duke Universary on a Naval ROTC scholarship, spending over five years on active duty 1965-1970 as a naval aviator, graduating from the University of Denver College of Law, becoming a licensed Colorado lawyer in 1973, Jon joined his father's 17th Street law firm. From the very beginning Jon represented consumer and business debtors and creditors in various bankruptcy proceedings in the United States Bankruptcy, District, and Tenth Circuit Courts in Colorado. In 1978 Jon's father left the practice to take a legal position wiht the federal government in Washington, D.C. Jon then "inherited" his father's busy practice as well as his own pracice. Since then Jon has specialized in bankruptcy law, now going on over 40 years. This experience has enabled him to make highly favorable settlements of his clients' disputed or defaulted financial obligations. Consumer clients typically have out-of-control credit card debts arising from unemployment, divorce, uninsured illness or a combination of these misfortunes. Business clients typically have landlord, taxing authority, commercial lender or lessor, and personal guarantee of failed or struggling business debts. Jon's ability to settle these types of debts has enabled many of his clients to avoid the stigma of a bankruptcy filing.

Jon graduated from the University of Denver College of law in the top ten percent of his class. He concentrated on business law: corporate, commercial, securities, and debtor-creditor courses. From 1976 to date Jon has been a lecturer and author of legal education seminars and publications for other lawyers. From 1983 to the present he has been rated "A" for legal ability by other lawyers and judges. Many other lawyers now practicing bankruptcy law in Colorado are rated "B" or "C" or have no rating at all. Jon was declared a Super Lawyer in bankruptcy and real estate in 2006 the only solo lawyer (not part of a larger firm) to have been so honored. He has been practicing insolvency law and achieving debt settlements as long or longer than any other attorney practicing in these areas of the law in Colorado, and as such, has been an expert witness in many federal and state Courts in Colorado.

We don't practice in downtown Denver. Since 1983 Jon's law firm has officed in the Denver Tech Center in a one-story building with trees, grass, and plenty of free parking.
