Girum Tesfaye

Girum Tesfaye is a founding partner in the Virginia office of Tesfaye | Amare, PLLC, where he represents clients in a wide range of Immigration matters and DUI/DWI defense. Recently inducted into the "Top 40 Under 40 In Virginia" by the National Trial Lawyers for Immigration Law and Litigation, Girum has forged a reputation for excellence among his peers and clients. Girum has earned the respect of opposing counsel and prosecutors while aggressively advocating for the best interest of his clients.

Before founding Tesfaye | Amare, PLLC, Girum was an Associate Attorney at a general civil litigation firm in Northern Virginia. There, Girum honed his litigation and trial skills in the General District Courts and Circuit Courts throughout Northern Virginia where he successfully defended his clients against the Commonwealth's Attorney as well as multi-national firms. Girum was among the top associates of the firm, bringing in clients and cultivating lasting professional relationships which often led to returning clients and ongoing legal representation.

Moreover, Girum gained valuable experience with the tightly-guarded aspects of government investigations and civil litigation while at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) Department of Enforcement, where he assisted with the investigation and subsequent prosecution of various cases brought before Federal District Courts as well as cases before administrative judges. Girum also served as a law clerk and contract attorney with several large government contractors, supporting the U.S. Department of Justice as well as the U.S. Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). At the CFTC, Girum assisted with investigations of alleged violations of the Commodity Exchange Act, including failures to supervise, Ponzi Schemes, and registration violations.

As a law student, Girum was a Certified Limited Practice Student assisting with the defense of serious criminal offenses at one of Arizona's most reputable criminal defense firms. Girum also served as a Law Clerk in the competitive Legal Research and Writing Program at the Maricopa County Superior Court.

Paulos Amare

Paulos Amare is a founding partner in the Maryland office of Tesfaye | Amare, PLLC. His practice includes transactional law, contract law, criminal law and general civil litigation.

Paulos attended the University Of Baltimore School Of Law where he distinguished himself from his peers as a Judicial intern researching novel areas of law, drafting legal memoranda assessing the merits of actions before the court, and assisted judges in court proceedings and pretrial conferences. As a Student Attorney, Paulos defended indigent clients against misdemeanor and felony charges in District Court.

Paulos has worked extensively with large multi-national and national firms assisting them efficiently navigate the complex twists and turns in discovery and litigation. He has played an integral role in assisting companies comply with State and Federal regulations as well as defending them from Federal investigations and alleged violations of antitrust law, trademark and international laws.

Paulos' recent activities include representing inmates in disciplinary proceedings in the D.C. Jail and corrections facilities in Prince George's and Montgomery Counties. He has also filed actions and appeals on behalf of inmates.

Paulos serves as legal advisor to several small business assisting them draft, review and negotiate contractual agreements. He also volunteers his time with several public service agencies lending his legal expertise serve the underserved.

Paulos grew up in Grundy, Virginia and Rockville, Maryland. He currently resides in Rockville, MD.
