"If I cannot move heaven, I will raise hell." (Virgil, The Aeneid.) Joshua Stutz is committed to relentlessly pursuing the goals and best interests of his clients. Although Joshua believes a collaborative problem-solving approach to dispute resolution is in the best interest of his client, Joshua understands that a scorched-earth approach to litigation can produce tangible results for his clients in some circumstances.
Joshua was born to a large, working-class family in San Diego, California, where he was raised and educated. Joshua overcame economic adversity, working his way through college and becoming the first of his five siblings to graduate from a four-year university.
Joshua graduated with honors from San Diego State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. Joshua was primarily interest in rhetoric and applied ethics. For his research regarding the legal institution of marriage, Joshua earned the Student Research Symposium President's Award in Research and Scholarship, the Research Award for Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice and the Charles Wei-hsun Foundation Award for Research in Philosophy.
After working as a paralegal for over a year at small family law firm in San Diego, Joshua was admitted to California Western School of Law with a 90% merit-based scholarship, which he maintained until Joshua graduated with honors in the top 10% of his class.
While at California Western School of Law, Joshua was the President of the Child, Family, and Elderly Law Society, a traveling competitor for Alternative Dispute Resolution Team, and a member of the Public Service Honors Society. During law school, Joshua interned with both the Superior Court of California, County of San Diego's Facilitators Office and the United States District Court, Southern District of California.
Immediately after taking the bar, Joshua moved to the Sacramento area, accepting a paid position as a law clerk in the family law department of a medium-size law firm. Upon receiving positive bar results, Joshua was promoted to Associate Attorney and was soon managing over 70 cases in various stages of litigation as the firm experienced rapid growth.
Joshua left his established position at the medium-size to start his own law firm because the new management of the firm over emphasized profits over the needs of our clients. Academic and professional success have not caused Joshua to forget the value of a dollar when a person must work two jobs to make ends meet. Joshua founded Stutz Law Office, PC, with a commitment to providing our clients with high quality representation at a reasonable rate.
