Firm Overview

Effectively Solving Problems
Going through a divorce is a difficult experience that will significantly affect your life. During that process, it is necessary to obtain accurate and complete information in order to make informed, well-thought out decisions. It is also important to be creative and flexible.

While there will be emotional and stressful times during a divorce, it is critical to consistently protect yourself and use this process to build a solid foundation for the future.

My goal is to provide sound legal advice that fully addresses your concerns and needs in the most realistic and effective manner possible.

Shawn Ettingoff, P.C. can help you with:

-Prenuptial Agreements
-Marital Agreements
-Co-Habitation Agreements
-Parental Responsibility Issues (including the allocation of parental decision-making for children and the determination of parenting time)
-Disputes Concerning the Relocation of Children
-Child Support (and many other financial issues concerning children)
-Division of Assets (including the analysis and appropriate treatment of complex or significant assets)
-Property Settlements
-Maintenance (known in some jurisdictions as alimony)
-Debt Allocation
-Post-Divorce Modification Issues
-Litigation (including hearings and trials)

Working With Clients
I work with clients to identify issues, analyze available options, and develop an appropriate plan of action.

In resolving disputes, I encourage clients to take reasonable steps to achieve a fair and appropriate settlement "out of court"but only if it is possible to do so effectively and in a way that protects the client's interests. If the parties and their attorneys cannot reach such a settlement on their own, there are other options (such as mediation) that should be explored before going to court. However, if a reasonable settlement cannot be achieved, and going to court makes sense (practically, legally and economically), I work with my clients to implement the most effective litigation strategy possible.

Colorado Family Law

Full-service family law firm in Boulder
Whether you are experiencing the pain of marital conflict or facing another legal issue close to home, I listen to your needs, understand your concerns and help you reach solutions to your legal problems.

I have served families in Boulder since 1994. I provide legal services across a wide spectrum of areas, including:

-Alimony
-Child custody and visitation
-Child support
-Child support modification and enforcement
-Divorce
-Juvenile delinquency and dependency proceedings
-Pre- and post-nuptial agreements

Alimony
Divorce is difficult, but it should not lead to a financial crisis. I help you establish fair and equitable spousal support so you can continue to live as comfortably as you did before your marriage ended.

Child custody and visitation
For every parent, child custody is the most heart-wrenching aspect of divorce. I advocate for your parental rights so you can raise your children in an appropriate and healthy home.

Child support
Both parents share the responsibility of raising a child. I help ensure your child receives the financial support required for a healthy, happy upbringing.

Child support modification and enforcement
Child support payments remain the same until the court modifies the child support order. If either parent experiences a significant change in financial circumstances, I can guide you through the proper legal procedures to modify your child support payments accordingly.

Divorce
Throughout your divorce, I stand by you. My firm accompanies you through mediation or litigation, depending on which is likely to obtain the best possible results for you including fair distribution of assets, division of the marital home, child support payments and child custody rights.

Juvenile delinquency and dependency proceedings
When Colorado authorities interfere with your parental rights, you need a compassionate advocate who understands the bureaucratic red tape. My firm is skilled at maneuvering through the complex laws of Colorado to protect your parental rights.

Pre- and post-nuptial agreements
When you marry, you may not foresee the potential problems that can eventually lead to divorce. I expect the unexpected and draft premarital agreements that protect both spouses' interests and that can alleviate some of the stress should you ever divorce.
