How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

I like the chess game of litigation. I see the board five moves ahead and can get my client the best outcome because of that.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Good luck. Even with a top notch legal team, I always engaged local counsel when I was litigating somewhere. There is a reason law school takes three years and no one wants a green attorney.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Generally unwilling.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I think that is an ethical violation.

I clerked for the Honorable Marc G. Buyske of the 9th Judicial District in Montana. Then I spent six years in the Marine Corps doing a variety of legal and non-legal jobs. After the Marine Corps, I practiced with Steptoe & Johnson in their Washington DC headquarters. I represented clients all over the world in a variety of litigation matters. My clients were Fortune 500 corporations, successful investment banks and individual directors for Fortune 500 companies. I practiced in state and federal courts throughout the nation and in international arbitrations.

I've served in the United States Marine Corps and that sets me apart from local CNY attorneys. I've also practiced in far more jurisdictions, with some of the most prominent lawyers in the country. I am an Ivy League lawyer with blue collar toughness. I've slept in the dirt and in 5-star hotels. I've counseled trailer park residents, Privates, 4-star Generals, Fortune 500 CEO's and almost everyone in between.

I am smart and tough. I will fight to the end when the circumstances warrant it but I'm not afraid to tell a client the truth about how things are likely to turn out. Seeing likely outcomes ahead of time allows me to reach the most cost effective outcome for my client. I am brutally honest about the potential outcomes and give my client the opportunity to choose what is best for them.

Personal interests:

I am a devoted husband and father of three young children. I try to stay in shape and participate with the Marine Corps Reserve.
