I have a passion for defending others in criminal cases. I am able to empathize with my clients and understand their emotions and fears. I have a unique perspective on the criminal justice system and I understand what it feels like to be wrongly accused of a crime.

Meet Criminal Defense Attorney Kyle B. Sawyer

Each day the news is filled with reports of the government taking away the rights, freedoms, and liberties of its own citizens. Your rights deserve to be protected. The founding fathers fought and died for the freedom we enjoy today. As an experienced criminal defense attorney practicing in Denver, Adams, and Jefferson County, and across Colorado, I fight for people who are facing criminal charges. I believe in fighting for the freedoms of my clients because I value their individual and unique circumstances.

The rights afforded to us by the Constitution need to be protected.

Education and Experience

I graduated with a degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado. Following my graduation, I attended the University of Denver Sturm College of Law with my Juris Doctor. During my time at law school, I was asked to join the Sturm College of Law's National Trial Debate team and competed all over the U.S. This prepared me for actual practice in criminal defense. Since my graduation, I have practiced 100% criminal defense in Douglas, Arapahoe, and Larimer County.

When you are charged with a crime, you interact with several government officials throughout the process. These individuals are not on your side. I am.

Meet Criminal Defense Attorney Erica Anderson

I am a Colorado Native and was raised in Boulder County. Throughout High School, I saw close friends of mine get in trouble with the law. This is when I first became interested in criminal defense work.

Education and Experience

After High School, I attended the University of Colorado in Denver where I received a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a minor in Criminal Justice. During my university coursework, I learned about how interactions with the police can lead to challenges with employment, housing, and even increased monitoring by police officers and other government agencies. This ignited the fire under me to pursue a career in criminal defense work.

After I graduated, I attended the University of Denver where I received my Juris Doctor degree. During law school, I interned at several different law offices including those in the public sector and private law firms. Additionally, I served as a student attorney in the University of Denver's Civil Litigation Clinic. Here, I worked on cases for low-income clients including wage claim cases, civil protection orders, and eviction cases. This experience affirmed my passion for serving clients in vulnerable positions.

After graduation, I worked as a Judicial Law Clerk for two District Court Judges with a criminal docket. Here, I received all of the motions filed in the pending cases for each division and drafted the Judge's final order. This experience allowed me to take a peek "behind the curtain" to see how Judge's evaluate a particular case and how each attorney's argument was perceived. My knowledge of the judicial system will be beneficial to my understanding of your case.

How I Will Help You Fight Your Charges

Going through the criminal justice system can be overwhelming and the State has a significant amount of resources to prosecute your case. As your attorney, I will make sure that you do not feel alone. Additionally, I will make sure that your rights are adequately protected throughout the whole process. When you are charged with a crime, you need an attorney who knows the law and will work hard to get you a good outcome. Additionally, you need someone who you can trust. As your attorney, I will listen to your needs so that I can fight for a resolution that works best for you. When you are charged with a crime, you interact with several government officials throughout the process. These individuals are not on your side. I am.

Individuals charged with a crime are often falsely accused or significantly overcharged. I will use my knowledge of the law to make sure that you are not taken advantage of. But I will also work hard to make sure that the government sees you as a person and not as the charges on your case.

Call me today for a free consultation. I look forward to meeting with you and discussing the possibilities in your case.

It is my goal to make sure that you are treated fairly throughout this process, that your voice is heard, and that law enforcement and the district attorney are held to their significantly high burden of proving the charges against you.

Meet Criminal Defense Attorney Jonathan Blasewitz

While working at Safeway in college, I witnessed first-hand the vast discrepancy individuals and entities had in power over individuals without. It was there I found my passion in fighting for the "little guy" against the systems in place that are often unfair and oppressive, particularly against those who have never experienced the system before.

A criminal charge does not have to define who you are. As your attorney, I will make sure that you aren't alone throughout this difficult process and that your rights are ardently protected.

Jonathan's Education and Experience

I was born in Colorado and raised in Boulder. I attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and received my Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts. After I graduated, I attended the University of Colorado Law School and received my Juris Doctor degree. In law school, I served as a student attorney in the Civil Practice Clinic where I represented individuals who were unable to afford an attorney in family law and immigration matters. Additionally, I represented federal workers when I interned for a labor union in Washington, D.C. Those experiences taught me how to conduct myself professionally and knowledgeably in and outside courtroom and to understand and advocate for my clients.

I will make sure your rights are ardently protected.

Prior to working at Sawyer Legal Group, I served as a prosecutor in three different judicial districts for nearly five years including Arapahoe, Douglas, Adams, Broomfield, Elbert, Lincoln, Prowers, Cheyenne, Kiowa, and Baca counties. During those five years, I handled nearly every type of criminal charge in the State of Colorado from minor traffic infractions, DUI's, domestic violence, and felonies including attempted murder, kidnapping, aggravated robbery, burglary, arson, varying degrees of assault, sexual assault, weapons charges, and drug charges. I've appeared in front of and built strong relationships with dozens of different judges and district attorneys throughout the state, most of whom still serve to this day. When the judge and the district attorney take your attorney seriously, they take your case seriously.

Becoming A Criminal Defense Attorney

I chose to become a criminal defense attorney because I felt I would be better positioned to help people and make a difference in people's lives. As your attorney, I will stand up for you and fight for your rights. It is my goal to make sure that you are treated fairly throughout this process, that your voice is heard, and that law enforcement and the district attorney are held to their significantly high burden of proving the charges against you.

When you find yourself in trouble with the law and you end up in criminal court, I am an extremely valuable asset to have on your side. I have worked on both sides of criminal cases and have exceptional insight into how each side looks at a case, as well as litigate the case.

Meet Criminal Defense Attorney Jason Gardner

I have had a very non-traditional career for an attorney, but one which has been dedicated to advocating for and helping people at every step throughout my career. I have a very analytical mind and am a consummate problem solver, as I spent over 23 years in the Information Technology field working my way up to be an IT Director prior to my career in law. Additionally, I have worked in sales, managed businesses, and was a Combat Engineer in the U.S. Army. I believe in working hard and always doing what is right. My analytical and logical approach towards each case I take on, along with my passion for helping people and my very calming and personable manner, has served my clients very well throughout my career.

Education and Experience

I am a Colorado native, graduating from the University of Denver's Sturm College of Law Evening Program in 2011 while working as an IT Director. The part-time evening program at DU is consistently ranked among the best in our nation. I was very active at the University of Denver as a member of the law school's Student Bar Association as a senator and vice president, a member of the Christian Legal Society, and as an officer in the Federalist Society. I also interned for the National Conference for State Legislators, the Independence Institute, and Holsinger Law, LLC during law school

After graduation, I began working as a Trust and Estate attorney. Following a brief hiatus working with the State of Colorado as a contracts manager, I turned to litigation, gaining additional trial and litigation skills. As both a Probate Litigator and a Deputy District Attorney with the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office, I found a passion for working with people tackling the constitutional issues associated with trial work in the criminal law field. I chose to leave the District Attorney's Office to help people more directly as a criminal defense attorney. I now work directly with my clients at Sawyer Legal Group, LLC, helping them navigate the difficult world of criminal law and the criminal court system in which they find themselves.

Representation and Practice Areas

I provide passionate and ethical representation for his clients throughout the state of Colorado in a myriad of criminal matters, including assault, menacing with a deadly weapon, burglary, possession and distribution of controlled substances, fraud, theft, identity theft, theft of at-risk adults, indecent exposure, harassment, disorderly conduct, obstruction, eluding, domestic violence, driving under the influence, driving under suspension, temporary and permanent protection order cases, and many additional types of criminal cases throughout Colorado's district, county, and municipal courts. I also represent clients in gun rights cases, focusing on the restoration of rights. I have experience with extreme risk protection orders (Red Flag) and assisting with applications and appeals regarding concealed carry permits in Colorado.

How I Will Help Fight For Your Future

When you find yourself in trouble with the law and you end up in criminal court, I am an extremely valuable asset to have on your side. I have worked on both sides of criminal cases and have exceptional insight into how each side looks at a case, as well as litigate the case. My experience as a District Attorney is invaluable in helping me negotiate with the DA assigned to your case. My experience and relationships with judges, attorneys, and even the clerks in courtrooms across Colorado will be instrumental to you as we work together on your case.

Someone once told me to find a place where you can fight the good fight. Criminal defense is where I found that place.

Meet Criminal Defense Attorney Nicole Savino

When I first started law school, someone once told me to find a place where you can fight the good fight. Criminal defense is where I found that place. Practicing criminal law allows me to care about other people; no matter who they are, where they've been, or where they're going.

When I'm not fighting the good fight, I can be found running on Colorado's beautiful trails with my dog Ellie and volunteering with Colorado's youth.

Education and Experience

I have practiced exclusively in the area of criminal defense. I've handled over two thousand misdemeanor and felony cases for juveniles and adults in County Court, District Court, and Juvenile Court.

I received my law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2016 as well as a certificate in Workplace Law. During law school, I worked at multiple private law firms and interned at both the Boulder and Denver offices of the Colorado State Public Defender.

After law school, I began my practice with the Douglas Trial Office of the Colorado State Public Defender. While in county and district court, I honed my trial and motions practice skills. I practiced against dozens of district attorneys and attorneys general. I meticulously studied how prosecutors approach cases, learned to quickly identify when a case is strong or weak; where the holes in the prosecution's case are; and how to deftly leverage those weakness to the benefit of my clients.

While being in front of a jury is like a second home to me, I am acutely aware that most cases are won before a jury ever sees the case. It's here that I know the importance of telling each client's unique story, not by the charges they face but who they are as individuals. With this perspective, I'm able to persuade prosecutors to dismiss cases outright, offer less serious charges, and agree to shorter sentences.

When cases have proceeded to trial, I served as lead counsel in over 30 jury trials, ranging from a 6-week securities fraud trial to first-degree murder. I have a track record of winning motions hearings based on Miranda right violations, unreasonable search and seizure, and lack of reasonable suspicion to detain my clients over to begin with.

I look forward to speaking with you!

Attorney of the Year, Juvenile Division, 2020

Becoming A Criminal Defense Attorney

One of the many lessons I have learned within my advocacy for my client in the tragic STEM shooting case was how important it is to embrace the idea of continual passion for the people I represent in trial and negotiations - no matter what it takes or how long. The Denver Post described my direct exam of a critical witness as "gripping, four-hour testimony". Up until that point, I had never stood in front of a podium for so long with so many people watching but the Judge needed to hear the evidence. Most importantly, my client needed to hear they had someone in their corner.

This passion is what I intend to give to each and every one of my clients.
