Rayman & Knight is dedicated insolvency firm. We attempt to be a lifeline to business and individuals suffering from financial difficulties.
Rayman & Knight, serves all of West Michigan. We limit our practice to finical difficulties and we help those people who need to file for bankruptcy, reorganize their finical affairs or need assistance in insolvency matters. Our office is in Kalamazoo but we have represented debtors and creditors throughout West Michigan. Our practice spans all of West Michigan from Coldwater in Branch County over to New Buffalo in Berrien County and all communities North to Grand Rapids up to Traverse City and east to Lansing. One of our strengths is that we have vast experiencing helping businesses and business owners experiencing financial difficulties. In these cases we often assist our clients by negotiating their debts informally or thorough what the banks call a workout agreement. We also file business bankruptcies of all Chapters: Chapter 7 (liquidation), Chapter 13 (reorganization for individuals), Chapter 11 (reorganization for business and people with large debt problems) and Chapter 12 (agricultural reorganization). We regularly handle unusual or complex cases that are referred to us from accountants or by other lawyers. This experience in complex matters helps us with all our cases, even those which many would consider less difficult. We treat all of our clients with the same care and attention. Our clients come to us in the most difficult times of their lives. We understand that it can be difficult an embarrassing to seek financial help. Our typical clients have done everything in their power to resolve their own financial problems but simply cannot solve their problems on their own. We take pride in offering our clientele a complete review of all options, sound legal guidance, and we promise to do our best to help them through a very difficult time.

Ware not afraid to take on a difficult task. We know that people suffering from financial difficulties are under tremendous stress. We have limited our practice and dedicated our careers to helping individuals and businesses through difficult times.
We strive to offer our clients a comfortable but professional atmosphere for consultation where the first steps to financial recovery can begin. We focus on your current and long-range financial needs and provide multiple options to resolve finical difficulties. The firm's depth of experience offers our clients a candid assessment of every possible option for addressing their various financial needs. As so much turns on the detail of a person's or company's situation, we take the time to sit with the client to gather all the necessary information to make an informed decision. Although we handle all types of bankruptcy proceedings we specialize in business related and complex bankruptcy matters. We are proud that much of our work comes from referrals from former clients, accountants, attorneys and other professionals throughout Michigan. Rayman & Knight will never push a client into a bankruptcy if another option is available. However, bankruptcy or reorganization is often the best option. Whatever avenue is chosen, we focus on making the process transparent and stress-free. Steve and Cody are responsive to client concerns and strive to make themselves available. We offer flexible and convenient hours to suit all their clients' needs.
Helping people and businesses in times of financial stress is extremely rewarding. We are able to offer immediate and real help to our clients. Our services make an immediate and positive impact in people's lives. The area of bankruptcy law is complicated and challenging and we enjoy using our knowledge and experience in helping all the unique individuals and situations that our clients bring to us.
Unlike other bankruptcy attorneys, our firm limits its practice exclusively to bankruptcy and insolvency matters. Steve and Cody attend multiple bankruptcy seminars each year, often lecture on the bankruptcy and related matters. In addition we often take on difficult and unique situations which require us to constantly improve our practice. We are able to use our experience in the larger more complex matters to our general consumer practice.
There are many great law firms in general and there are many great bankruptcy lawyers. What we believe sets Rayman & Knight apart is our compassion for our clients and our passion for the law. We true do enjoy our work, the clients we are able to serve, the lawyers in the community we work with and we love and enjoy learning more about bankruptcy law and how it can help individuals in need. We hope that our compassion for our clients and passion for our career shines through our work.
Upon his graduation from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2002, Cody H. Knight has been a partner in Rayman & Knight. I decided to focus my practice in the areas of bankruptcy and financial insolvency work because of the opportunity it provides to make a real impact on people's lives. I understand that many people struggle to manage their financial crises on their own before turning to my firm for help. We are proud that we can often ease our clients fears and concerns after just one meeting. Our clients often leave our office with the knowledge that there is help for their situation.
I believe I am well-respected by the Kalamazoo legal community, and has spoken to several state and local legal organizations on various aspects of bankruptcy and debt relief practice. I am also active in community organizations, including service on the board of directors for a local charity for the blind.
In addition to the practice of law, Cody enjoys camping and outdoor activities and spending time with his wife and three children.
Steve Rayman, the principal partner of Rayman & Knight, has been a Michigan attorney since 1979, and has spent over thirty years in the field of bankruptcy, reorganization, and debt consolidation. During my long career, I have come to appreciate the pressures that debt places on both individuals and businesses. I appreciate the unique concerns of each client and case, and treat each one with the respect and attention it deserves. Unlike most bankruptcy attorneys who tend to specialize in either consumer or commercial practice, I have extensive experience in both.
In addition to representing individual consumers and businesses in bankruptcy, I regularly represents bankruptcy trustees, and is sought-after for representation in large or complex cases. I have represented trustees in numerous cases with multiple millions of dollars in claims, and in at least one case in which claims exceeded one billion dollars.
I am certified by the American Board of Certification in both consumer and business bankruptcy. I have personally represented over 2,000 people in their individual debt consolidation matters. I frequently lecture on bankruptcy and reorganization matters.
