Lots of people talk about adding value, not all of them do. At Pruvent, a primary goal is to add more value than expense, through dedication to our craft and our clients. We want to provide bankruptcy representation that exceeds expectations.

Firm Overview

To earn client loyalty from those that want to accomplish goals and solve problems by being purposeful and proactive. To consistently reevaluate our strategy regarding how we deliver on what we believe should be our client's most important goals when selecting legal counsel or consultants: the security and confidentiality of their data, the quality of our work and results, and the cost of our services.

Focus - at Pruvent, we believe there is no reason to create problems where there are none and that our main focus should be ethically aligning our interests with our client's needs.

Communication - at Pruvent, we believe that there are very few problems that cannot be solved when communication is good.

Creativity - at Pruvent, we believe that there is often more than one way to accomplish a task. Just because something was previously done using a certain process doesn't mean that process is best.

Care - Pruvent is interested in helping our clients, caring about outcomes, taking special care to do business the right way, and carefully navigating our clients through challenge and growth, in order to develop long term relationships.

Understanding - at Pruvent, we understand business. We understand that our overhead is paid by client dollars and we don't take that for granted by training new lawyers on the client's dime, being careless with billing, or spending lavishly on appointed offices, big marketing budgets, firm retreats, etc. This approach helps us to be more practical.

Lots of people talk about adding value, not all of them do. At Pruvent, a primary goal is to add more value than expense, through dedication to our craft and our clients. We want to provide bankruptcy representation that exceeds expectations.

Pruvent's goal is to create a bankruptcy practice that is completely client-centric - always looking for the best way to meet our client's financial goals. We look at clients as individuals with unique problems that need specific attention. We do not look at our clients as just a number like some firms, but we provide individualized attention from a highly experienced attorney or paralegal.

We can handle simpler cases, yet we do not shy away from cases that are more involved including chapter 7, chapter 13, sub-chapter 5 and chapter 11 bankruptcy cases. We are not afraid to take on the tough issues and find solutions to those problems. We developed processes and technology to make the process go smoother for the client; therefore, easing the client's burden in an already stressful situation.

We offer free initial consultations to fully analyze a client's situation and put together a solid gameplan to reach the goals of the client. We will work hard for each and every client. We approach each new client with the simple proposition that we want to earn their business.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Pruvent's decision to have a bankruptcy practice stems from the desire to remake the bankruptcy practice as we know it today. We all came from different firms and different life experiences. However, we have the same collective goal: to create a practice that focuses on the client and the client's goals first. We brought our ideas together to build a less cumbersome process that our clients can follow thus avoiding additional stress at a time when the client is overwhelmed by the financial burdens. Overall, we want to push our bankruptcy department to be the standard by which all others are judged.

Jeff Bursell is an accomplished and versatile attorney with a proven record of leadership and obtaining great results for his clients. He has extensive experience in representing clients in bankruptcy. He recognizes that, to a lot of people, bankruptcy is a negative word. But Jeff helps clients understand that bankruptcy is not a negative word, only a tool to be used to help people move on with their lives.

Jeff is an effective communicator – able to break down the complexity of bankruptcy in simple terms so his clients are informed, knowledgeable, and ready. He effectively shepherds his clients through the hazards and pitfalls of the bankruptcy process. Adept at negotiating and finding solutions, he helps his clients avoid unnecessary entanglements with trustees, creditors, the Department of Justice, and all of the various players in the bankruptcy arena.

Experienced at researching and understanding the policy reasons behind bankruptcy law, Jeff is always searching for the perfect solution to complex problems. A dedicated and knowledgeable professional, Jeff is committed to excellence in the legal profession.

Representative Experience
Jeff has represented over 7,500 bankruptcy clients ranging from the simple to the complex. He has stopped the oppression of a garnishment, protected homes from foreclosure, and defended his clients when they were most vulnerable.

Of Note
Jeff has two defining moments in his career. First, bankruptcy law went through a major overhaul in 2005. He worked tirelessly to not only understand the new legal requirements (e.g., the means test), but he mastered the new provisions to give his clients a fresh financial start. Second, Jeff helped draft legislation that effectively made Minnesota’s homestead provisions one of the strongest in the country, testifying at a Senate hearing to help effectuate the change.

Jeff is a proud father of 3 children (including twins). Helping them grow and prosper in life brings him happiness outside of work. Finally, spending time outside is critical to life in Minnesota. Jeff usually finds his way onto a golf course to continue his quest for that perfect (i.e. lucky) round.
