Firm Overview

I started my law career in 2006 and established my Savannah-based criminal defense law firm in 2014, bringing experience and insight as a public defender for Liberty County and former assistant district attorney for Chatham County. Regardless of the severity of your criminal charges, a conviction strips away your freedom and future.

When you are facing felony criminal charges that carry severe consequences, you need an attorney who has taken on the complexities of both misdemeanor and felony criminal cases.

I craft personalized and innovative strategies for my clients whether I am handling a traffic violation or drunk driving case, or minimizing the consequences of felony drug charges. I've worked on a number of DUI cases and gotten the DUI dismissed or reduced. I know how the opposing side builds cases, and I use that knowledge to my advantage.

I am candid with my clients. I tell them what they need to hear, not necessarily what they want to hear. Simply stated, I don't promise anything that I cannot deliver.

As a sole practitioner, I attend to all the details of my clients' criminal cases, starting with answering my telephone. Providing one-on-one representation allows me to identify their specific concerns, needs and goals. Because I am the only attorney, my clients enjoy reasonable fees that are not increased to cover the costs of staff members and overhead.

DUI and DWI

Drinking alcohol and getting behind the wheel of a car is a way drivers can find themselves charged with drunk driving or formally known as driving under the influence (DUI), and in need of an experienced DUI lawyer.

After a DUI arrest, most of my clients are worried about the possibility of going to jail. They fear the loss of their freedom, not to mention their career-related futures. Fortunately, there are alternatives to jail, such as the treatment court located in Chatham County. I possess a thorough knowledge of the processes and procedures involved as I currently serve as the public defender for the Chatham County DUI court.

At The Patel Law Firm, I bring a wealth of experience in private and public practice of the law. My insight into the opposition is invaluable and puts me in a unique position to help you. In addition, I operate a smaller law firm that affords me time to get to know my clients and the specific issues they are dealing with.

DUI laws are constantly changing. You need a DUI lawyer who is up-to-date on the latest rules and regulations. You need someone who regularly attends seminars and training that cover DUI law updates. I am that attorney. Let me help you navigate through a DUI alcohol-related charge.

A DUI can stay on your record forever. Some people are under the assumption that it just fades away after some years and won't be on your record. That is incorrect; a DUI stays with you forever. The look-back period for a DUI conviction is 10 years. If you have had more than one DUI in 10 years you could be facing significant jail time. You don't have the luxury to hire a novice DUI lawyer. Hire someone who understands the current DUI laws and has the expertise to navigate these rough waters.

DUI drug charges often have more significant consequences than alcohol-related DUI charges. If convicted, the repercussions of a person's license to drive can be harsh. Let us explore any and every possibility of a defense and options to minimize the repercussions.

Officers that are trained in DUI drug detection are known as drug recognition experts, commonly referred to as DREs. They undergo rigorous training to be proficient in determining whether someone is under the influence of drugs. A DRE certification is the only certification that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration offers. These officers have to undergo an extensive course to earn the certification. Hire a lawyer that is as proficient as they are in this field. I have taken multiple courses and continuously attend seminars in order to stay current on changes in procedures and the law.

An arrest for DUI involving drugs does not mean a conviction is automatic. DUI cases are highly technical, and due to this, they require a lawyer who can review the findings of field sobriety tests, breath tests and blood draws. Poor training of law enforcement and reckless handling of samples can result in arrests and charges.

My experience in DUI cases involves not only in-depth knowledge of the steps taken leading up to the arrest but also steps overlooked that violated the rights of my clients.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others?

Sneh's years as a prosecutor in state court has a tremendous impact on the DUI defense strategies he prepares for clients. As a prosecutor, his primary duties were to accuse misdemeanor cases and most of the trials he was involved in were DUI trials. He worked closely with police officers to build cases against the accused. He learned what officers do, how they do it and how they are supposed to do things. This knowledge, combined with multiple seminars he attends on cutting-edge issues regarding DUI laws, gives him the expertise to handle any DUI case.

Sneh is a member of the National College for DUI Defense and has taken the DUI alcohol detection course that cadets take and has attended Drug Recognition Expert courses, courses that specially trained officers take to recognize someone who may be driving under the influence of drugs. DUI laws and procedures are very technical and it takes someone who has dedicated significant time to learning this area of the law to be proficient in defending such cases.

Fighting for injustice is what Sneh does best. He opened The Patel Law Firm in 2014 in Savannah, Georgia. As a sole practitioner, he focuses on DUI cases, drug-related cases, traffic violations and other criminal defense cases. Even on the most stressful days, he is like a one-man army in front of a storm of opposition. "It should never be easy to take someone's liberty or livelihood away. I fight for one like I would fight for myself. As a defense attorney, my approach is never to lie down and fold, no matter if everyone thinks my client is guilty. Standing up for people is what makes my job worth it." Sneh is most passionate about DUI cases and has extensive knowledge of the latest DUI laws. He is dedicated to furthering his education and says it's imperative to stay on top of the latest trends and procedures.

Before opening his own practice, Sneh held positions on the other side of the courtroom. In 2006, he served as an assistant public defender for the Atlantic Judicial Circuit Public Defender's Office, and in 2009 became an assistant district attorney in the Chatham County District Attorney's Office where he remained until 2014. Sneh believes his experience as a prosecutor allows him to better serve his clients. "Reputation and good standing with the courts goes a long way and is always an intangible asset which my clients benefit from indirectly. Having practiced as both a prosecutor and defense attorney allows me to build a good reputation among my peers and in front of the courts."

Sneh is very active in the law community. He is a member of the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD) and a member of The National Trial Lawyers Top 100. He is part of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Georgia Bar Association, and DUI Defense Lawyers Association.
