Throughout my baccalaureate education I had been drawn to civil liberties and civil rights. This fondness grew during the time I spent in Washington D.C. as an intern for Congressmember Thomas Lantos via the Panetta Institute for Public Policy. I was able to learn about the laws as they were being drafted and work with our constituents. During law school I was given the opportunity to extern with the Orange County Public Defenderâs Office. While externing I developed a passion for criminal defense work. I realized that it perfectly combined my love for defending civil liberties with my desire to assist those in need.
What sets me apart from other criminal defense attorneys is that I am accessible, responsive, and have the ability to layout the facts in an understandable way. I think many times attorneys forget that our clients are new to the criminal justice system and what is routine for us can be overwhelming for our clients. Being accessible is the key to being able to educate our clients which ultimately can help provide piece of mind. It is my goal to ensure that every client has a timely and informative response to the questions that arise. Being able to breakdown the processes and information into a more manageable and understandable way is what allows our clients to provide a meaningful contribution and become a valued member of their legal team.
Attorney Kellee Parker Harris began her legal career shortly after undergraduate school as the Constituent Services Specialist for a local assembly member. While in law school, she served as a criminal defense law clerk for Buckner, Khouri, Chavos & Mirkovich and the Office of the Orange County Public Defender. As a law clerk, she worked on the high-profile federal public defender case that the public dubbed the Mexican Mafia trial for over one year.
Upon passing the bar in 2006, Ms. Parker became an associate of Buckner, Khouri, Chavos & Mirkovich and was able to represent a number of different clients in the fields of criminal defense and administrative law.
Ms. Parker then joined forces with a solo practitioner in 2007, where she spent two years practicing criminal defense with an emphasis on DUI defense. Following Ms. Parker's time with the solo practitioner, she opened Parker Law Center, a criminal defense and DUI law practice.
Throughout her years of practice experience, Ms. Parker has counseled and represented clients through all types of DUI cases, including both misdemeanor and felony-variety instances. She is fully prepared and committed to defending clients both before judges in court and in front of DMV personnel in administrative per se hearings. Further, Ms. Parker is an adjunct professor with California State University, Long Beach where she teaches courses on criminal procedure, constitutional rights and criminal court processes.
