Personal Attention. Proven Results. Protect Your Freedom by Hiring an Experienced Criminal Defense Lawyer.
Representing You in the Full Range of State & Federal Criminal Charges
Being charged with or suspected of a crime, are one of life's most stressful experiences. Innocent people have been convicted of crimes they did not commit and it can happen to you, your family member, or your friends. Remember to protect yourself and never speak to law enforcement without an attorney! It is in your best interest to discuss your matter with an experienced defense lawyer.
At Omar Criminal Defense, we go over all your options and discuss the best ways to reach a successful outcome. Sometimes the best way to attack a criminal case is to reach out to the government before charges are filed, to persuade them not to file charges or to negotiate a plea deal before filing. Other times the best outcomes are the fruit of aggressive motion practice. In other situations it might be best for a person accused of a crime to exercise his or her constitutional right to a jury trial. We will go over your options to form the best possible plan of attack.
Pursuing Successful Outcomes
Success in a criminal case comes from effectively defending the accused through thorough research to know and understand relevant statutes and legal cases. After that, our Tampa Bay criminal defense lawyer formulates a plan of attack based on the specific facts of each case, taking into account all possible legal and factual defenses, and evaluating the strongest avenue of attack.
Effective criminal defense involves active motion work, knowledge of the law, proper investigation, through preparation for depositions, hearings, and discussions with the state. Our firm is dedicated to protecting your rights through devoted advocacy, no matter how serious your charges.

During my college years I was greatly affected by a criminal case where I saw firsthand how government over-reach caused a great injustice to some friends of mine. They were accused and unjustly convicted of crimes they did not commit, and the consequences have been devastating both for them and their families. After seeing this great injustice I decided to become a criminal defense attorney to defend the constitutional rights of persons accused of crimes and to try and prevent injustice in every case that I handle.

Omar Abdelghany graduated cum laude from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California, where he interned at the San Diego Public Defender's Office for several semesters. While at California Western Omar also completed a judicial externship with Justice Terry O'Rourke at the California Fourth District Court of Appeal. After graduation Omar worked for several years as a trial attorney at the Palm Beach Public Defender's Office, where he gained invaluable experience representing thousands of clients.
Success in a criminal case may be achieved by persuading the government not to bring charges; by obtaining dismissal of charges before trial; by securing an acquittal at trial; by obtaining a reversal on appeal; by negotiating a satisfactory resolution; or by a combination of these outcomes. Among the successful results that Omar has achieved are the following:
The government dropped drug charges pending against a defendant after Omar persuaded the judge to grant a motion to suppress evidence because the arresting officer obtained the evidence through an illegal search. Omar continued to fight for his client even though the government had called his motion "frivolous".
Omar persuaded the government to reduce a marijuana trafficking charge to a lesser charge so that the defendant could go on probation; if the defendant was convicted as originally charged he would have been sentenced to a mandatory three year prison term.
The government dropped felony drug possession charges pending against a defendant after Omar filed a Motion to Suppress; the government agreed with Omar's arguments without the motion having to be heard by the judge.
Omar and co-counsel obtained the acquittal at trial of a defendant charged with multiple counts of Battery.
Omar and co-counsel obtained the acquittal at trial of a defendant charged with Battery by showing the jury that the defendant acted in self-defense after she was attacked first.
Through aggressive representation including taking depositions and thorough research of the law, Omar persuaded the government to drop all charges against a defendant charged with Burglary of a Dwelling and Assault. Omar continued his aggressive defense of the case even after the government threatened to charge the defendant with a crime punishable by life if he did not plead guilty.
By acting quickly Omar persuaded the government to offer a pre-trial diversion program to a defendant charged with fraud; the defendant's case was completely dropped after successfully completing the terms of the program.
Omar and co-counsel obtained the acquittal at trial of a defendant charged with Boating under the Influence.
The government dropped a DUI case pending against a defendant after Omar persuaded the judge to grant a motion to suppress; the judge granted the motion even though there were high breath results in the case.
