Richard Maney

Maney, Gordon, Zeller P.A

Richard Henry Maney is the founder and managing attorney of Maney | Gordon | Zeller, P.A. For more than 38 years, he has practiced in the field of immigration and naturalization, personal injury and wrongful death, civil litigation and products liability law.
Background

As a young boy, when Richard Maney asked his father why there were separate water fountains for different races, his father told him, "Just because the law states something, doesn't make it right. You always need to look for the moral authority and ask your conscience, Is this just?"

Richard realized at an early age he wanted to fight injustice and help people who were disadvantaged in society. His family had always embraced people of all races and ethnicity. As Presbyterians, his family embraces all people of all religions, faiths, and beliefs.

As a young attorney, Richard saw the struggle of immigrant families attempting to legally obtain residence in the United States. He was inspired by their work ethic, their vision, and their determination. When he began his immigration practice in 1978, he realized that he had found a practice that would address his fathers advice: Always apply moral justice to the law.

Being married to an immigrant, Richard is reminded daily of the challenges facing ethnic minorities.

Richard is passionate about the benefits our immigrants bring to our nation. He enjoys making and maintaining strong personal relationships with his clients.

Richard is Board Certified in the field of Immigration & Nationality law. He is the coauthor of the book, The Immigrant Story: A Tribute to Americas Immigrants. He holds Martindale Hubbell's highest distinction, being rated by fellow attorneys and judges as preeminent in legal ability and professional ethics. His 40 years of immigration law experience serve as the foundation for the firm. He continues his quest to seek justice for our immigrant community.

Michael Behrens is a native of West Virginia. In 2012, he graduated as an Honor's Scholar from West Virginia University cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and minor in Spanish. In 2015, Michael graduated with his Juris Doctor degree from the West Virginia University College of Law, where he received honors for his achievement in the Immigration Law courses and where practiced in the Immigration Law Clinic.

When Michael decided to go to law school, he had hopes of practicing in the corporate realm. However, after spending a year working with the less fortunate, immigrant community in West Virginia and witnessing the many injustices of the immigration system, he discovered his passion for immigration law. Michael decided to relocate to Denver, Colorado, so that he could focus his practice on immigration law and help keep families together as he realized he could help many more immigrants outside of West Virginia where there is a limited immigrant population.

In Denver, Michael worked for several small firms where he gained experience in many aspects of immigration law, including affirmative applications before USCIS and defensive applications before the Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals. He also has extensive experience working with victims of crimes and other types of trauma, including domestic violence and human trafficking.

Michael joined MGZ Philadelphia in November 2018 to work in a larger firm that is better suited to help the immigrant community in Philadelphia and at-large through collaboration and zealous advocacy.
