Mr. Wampler has more than 30 years of experience in the courtroom. He served as assistant Greene County prosecutor from 1967-1970, was elected as a prosecuting attorney from 1971-1972, and has engaged in private practice since 1973 in which he specializes in felony criminal trial work. He became one of the youngest elected Prosecuting Attorneys in Greene County, Missouri.
Dee Wampler's work as a criminal trial attorney has earned him a national and international reputation. His cases have been featured on investigative television programs, including: "Saturday Night with Connie Chung," "Inside Edition," "Prime Time," and "Court TV."

Joe practices criminal defense in federal, state, and municipal courts with partner Dee Wampler located in Springfield, Missouri and has participated in a large number of high profile jury and bench trials. Passanise is a Past President of the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (MACDL) and is a frequent speaker at Missouri Bar and MACDL conferences. He has been chosen as a member by the National College of DUI Defense (2004 Present) and has taught as per course faculty at Missouri State University in the Communication Department for many years.
The Missouri Bar selected Passanise as a Lon O. Hocker Trial Advocacy Award recipient (2002) and was given a President's Award (2009) in recognition of his efforts with the Non-Partisan Court Plan effort in Greene County. Missouri Lawyer's Weekly chose him as one of the top five "up and coming lawyers" for the state of Missouri (2003) and a finalist for "Lawyer of the Year" (2008). His peers have recognized him as a Best Lawyer in America (2007 Present), a Missouri Super Lawyer (2006 Present by Law & Politics Magazine top 5% attorney according to peer review), American Trial Lawyers Association (2007 Present), and Who's Who in American Law (2009). The Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association President's recently honored Passanise with the 2008 President Award in recognition for extraordinary service to the bar.
Presently, he serves on the Parenting Life Skills Board and is involved in a number of community projects. Passanise is married to Jennifer Steffes and they have two beautiful children Bella and Samuel along with two labs, Josie and Alibi.
Scott went on to obtain his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri- Kansas City School of Law. While in law school he was the winner of outstanding oral advocate in the Ellison Moot Court Competition, competed on the national moot court team and also interned at the Kansas City Public Defender Office, which allowed him to work on high profile felony cases. Scott's high aptitude in trial preparation and argument led to him being selected by faculty to the distinguished Order of the Barristers.
Upon graduation he worked at McGonagle Spencer PC, a small boutique law firm in Kansas City, which specializes in plaintiff's class action work, personal injury, and criminal law. While at the firm Scott was a zealous advocate for clients who had suffered life altering injuries. Wanting to get back to Springfield, Missouri and back into the court room on a regular basis Scott accepted a job with the Missouri State Public Defender's Office in Springfield, practicing solely in Criminal Defense.
Working at the Public Defender's Office, Scott participated in numerous bench and jury trials at both the misdemeanor and felony level in state court. Scott had frequent success in felony and misdemeanor litigation. After working as an Assistant Public Defender for a couple years, he began working for the Law Offices of Dee Wampler and Joseph Passanise in January of 2014 where he focuses solely on criminal law at the municipal, state, and federal levels.
Since being with Wampler and Passanise, Scott has been selected as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers. The Springfield Business Journal further recognized Scott as the up and coming Trusted Advisor in the field of law in 2014.
Scott remains involved in the Springfield Community with Big Brother Big Sisters of the Ozarks and serves on the Theta Chi Iota Beta Alumni Board of Directors.
