Law Offices of Christopher H. Thogmartin

A small general practice firm with a focus on bankruptcy, estate planning and real estate.

Firm Overview

We are an independent law firm serving Connecticut with offices located in Plantsville (Southington) and Rocky Hill. While offering expertise in multiple specialties, our firm has a particular focus on asset management. A simple way of putting it is that we handle the three "Estates": the Bankruptcy Estate, the Probate Estate, and Real Estate. Essentially, these 'Estates' cover a broad spectrum of wealth management practice, from protecting the wealth you have and planning its distribution, to freeing you from the burdensome debts that prevent you from doing so.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Bankruptcy is an excellent example of a primarily 'closed-system' niche of law. It has its own Code, it's own court and judges. As such a system, it requires a practitioner to have more than just a passing familiarity with the appropriate legal principles. Effective bankruptcy advocacy requires an interest and enthusiasm for the subject matter.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others?

Attorney Thogmartin turned his focus on bankruptcy law from his early days in law school, where the intricacies of bankruptcy law immediately appealed to him. As an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Newark, New Jersey, Attorney Thogmartin consolidated and restructured the City's bankruptcy department as a subset of the City's Real Estate division.

Following his move to Connecticut, Attorney Thogmartin gained five years of insight and experience with the credit industry by representing commercial creditors.
