Located in Orange County, California, Law Office of Jennifer N. Harris represents clients through out Southern California. Our firm specializes in all Civil Litigation and Family Law matters.

The Law Office of Jennifer N. Harris offers legal assistance and representation in multiple factions of civil law. Civil litigation encompasses all matters involving private rights as opposed to criminal law or administrative law. It is the state of being legally obligated for civil damages. We represent both Plaintiffs and Defendants in civil lawsuits filed in California State or Federal Court.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

We frequently review documents for self-represented litigants and offer advice as they travel through the court system. We have special rates designed to assist those who choose to represent themselves.

How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?

Mediation is a great alternative to trial and we encourage our clients to consider the option. It is less formal and often times saves the client money in the long run if the case is resolved. Mediation can also help narrow the issues for trial, proving to be a cost-effective tool for the parties involved.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

Family law is civil litigation, and vise versa. The same rules of procedure apply. The same burdens of proof apply. The same rules of discovery apply. The same rules of evidence apply. Many times our clients are in need of more than just a family law attorney, or more than just a civil trial attorney (e.g. they've been sued, or had a car accident, or were wrongfully terminated from their job). Since these two areas of law both fall under the civil law umbrella, our firm is unique in our ability to represent our clients across the board.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

We encourage our clients to know as much about the legal issues as possible. The more a client educates themself on the legal issues, the more comfortable they will be walking into court. But, we also understand that litigation is stressful and emotional, and sometimes the best thing to do is place your trust in your attorney. Your lawyer is trained for this, let us carry the stress for you.

After a jury trial in Federal District Court, the jury found in favor of Ms. Harris’ client on all counts.
Ms. Harris began her practice in 2008, focusing primarily on contract and tort lawsuits, representing both Plaintiffs and Defendants in unlimited jurisdiction (over $25,000 in damages) in the Superior Court of California. In 2013, Ms. Harris litigated hundreds of fraud cases in each of the four Federal District Courts in California and State Superior Courts all over the State of California. Ms. Harris also appeared in Federal Bankruptcy Courts up and down the west coast, litigating fraud cases.
Ms. Harris’ experience goes beyond the trial court level as she has successfully appealed a number of decisions at the State and Federal Appellate Court level.
Over the past decade, Ms. Harris has served as Counsel in a variety of legal actions including negligence and personal injury cases, legal malpractice, wrongful termination cases based on discrimination, harassment and retaliation, civil rights cases including excessive force and deprivation of due process of law, and unfair business practices cases. Ms. Harris also has experience as a criminal defense attorney representing clients charged with DUIs, other misdemeanor offenses, and a strike level felony case.
Through out her years as a civil litigator and trial attorney, Ms. Harris would also on occasion take family law cases by referral from friends and family. In 2015, after an influx of family law referrals, Ms. Harris decided to officially incorporate family law into her law practice.
