What distinguishes your law firm from others?

No one ever asks you "How did you win your fight?" they only ask you "Did you win your fight?" At our firm we fight to win using tested and proven systems and processes to help identify, gather and present the elements of your case in the most compelling way possible to maximize your recovery for your injuries. When you hire our firm your case is handled start to finish by our team in close concert with you - because YOU are your case and the most important aspect of your story. 21 years of hearing some of the worst stories of lives devastated and even destroyed by personal injuries has taught us to get the facts or your case gathered quickly and completely and then present these facts in the light most favorable to you. A personal injury case is chess, not checkers, and we play to win.

Jason Skala

I came to Alaska as an infant and all my memories start here. I was raised in Chugiak and went to Homestead Elementary, Gruening Junior Hight and Chugiak High School After graduating High School I worked for Senator Ted Stevens in D.C. before going to Cornell University where I graduated in 1993. I went to Law School at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles after watching the OJ Simpson Trial and seeing Bob Shapiro and Johnny Cochran - both Loyola Alumni - demonstrate superior trial attorney skills. I may not have agreed with the verdict, but it was clear who had the best attorneys in that case and that's what cemented my decision on Loyola of Las Angeles. After graduating law school I returned to Alaska and started my own practice limited to Plaintiff's Personal Injury cases only.

I chose personal injury because my father and brother are both medical doctors and my dinner table talk was the science of health, sickness and injury. Because the language of medicine is most familiar to me and often the difficult for many attorneys, I took to personal injury like a duck to water and have never looked back. The more complex and interesting the mechanism of injury or the procedures to fix it, the more I am interested in the case. Being a trial attorney is the best job in the world because each case is different and requires equal parts Sherlock Holms and Dr. House to figure out what happened, who is responsible and what can be done about it.

I love all things outdoors, especially if it involves catching food - berry picking, hunting, fishing or gathering I am game to try. I have a keen interest and respect for traditional knowledge and indigenous technology, skills and traditions. Growing up in Alaska let me see first hand the greatest human achievements of the paleolithic humans - literally the greatest hunters, fishers and gatherers the world has every seen that survived and thrived in places like the Arctic where modern man struggles to survive with all the power of modern technology.

Because I have been privileged to learn first hand from many generous first nation friends throughout the state, I understand the monetary value of subsistence losses keenly and am interested in any case where a person's injuries through the fault of another interferes with their ability to participate in any traditional activities including hunting, fishing, gathering, crafting or performing. If you have a subsistence loss associated with your injuries, please call me and let me help you understand that these losses are some of the most valuable injury claims any Alaskan can sustain.
