How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

"Serious Trial Lawyers"

When we say we're "serious trial lawyers," it's more than just words.

Trial experience is trial experience. If you have it, as we do, it means that we can make a promise to our clients, not that we win every case -- no lawyer can make that guarantee -- but that we will do everything in our power to solve the problem and make things right.

We stand with you in your time of need and get the job done. We are trial lawyers, with an AV rating* from Martindale-Hubbell's peer review rating system. We truly care about the outcome of your case.

Family law is not an area of law where lawyers can separate themselves emotionally from what the client is going through. Divorce can be very difficult. So can child custody and visitation, and the matter of property division. A family law attorney must have some "skin in the game," so to speak.

What's the best way for a lawyer to get some skin in the game?

Going to bat for clients, as we have, countless numbers of times, in courtrooms all across Maryland. In fact, there's likely no courthouse in Maryland that we haven't personally set foot inside over our years of law practice.

Since 1992, we have represented mothers and fathers, men and women, in all types of divorce and family law matters.

Give Us a Call

As trial lawyers, we might call ourselves serious, but what that means is we are more than capable of standing up for you when and where you need us, whether it's at the bargaining table or in court in front of a judge.

But don't believe us just because we say so. Pick up the phone and give us a call and hear what we have to say about your case. For a free consultation, please contact us at 443-709-9999.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others?

Meet James E. Crawford Jr.James E Crawford Jr

I don't really like to write about myself. (That's probably true about most of us.) But I think it's important to convey a little about the lawyer and person you're thinking of representing you.

I've been practicing law since 1992. Before that, I completed my undergraduate degree at Frostburg State University in 1985, my Master of Arts at the University of Baltimore in 1987 and my law degree at the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1992.

As an attorney, I have handled literally thousands of cases throughout the years. Those cases included a mix of high-profile and routine cases — though, quite frankly, no case is routine when it comes to the person I am representing.

I practice in every county, district court, circuit court and federal court in Maryland. Simply put, there isn't a courtroom in Maryland that I haven't been in.
What I Think About the Law Profession and Law Practice

When I built this website, I was asked to write about myself, and I had to stop and think about my particular qualities and why I've been so successful practicing law all these years.

In other words, what makes me the type of lawyer (and type of person) that you would want representing you? Why do clients continue to come back? Why is the majority of my practice referrals from other clients who are very satisfied with the outcomes of their cases?

Probably my most desirable quality is that I really care about the outcome of my clients' cases and their well-being. I believe that it is really important for a lawyer to strive to do his or her best for a client in every way possible.

Frankly, I think my profession has lost its way in that regard somewhat. There are still a lot of good lawyers out there, but I think a lot of people don't look at lawyers the way they used to. It's very important for a lawyer to represent a client with all of his or her ability and skill. I still believe practicing law is a noble cause, and that justifies using all my energy and skills to represent a client.

I am a trial lawyer, plain and simple. I am in court just about every day of my working life. I've tried thousands of cases, and I am very familiar with the courthouse and courthouse personnel. That is why I have been so successful: I have been there many times.
