Helping families in crisis for over 35 years by representing clients in divorce, family law, child custody and support, including Chapter 7 & Chapter 13 bankruptcies.
Our office has handled thousands of bankruptcy cases in the past 30 years. Conveniently located off I-15 at Carroll Canyon Road in San Diego, California, we are open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you live in San Diego County, I can represent you in your bankruptcy case. Free consultations are available, in person or by telephone, at your convenience. I offer a "flat fee" for bankruptcies and a payment plan of four or five payments due prior to filing, or what best fits your budget. My overall fees are considered low for the area. We are not a "bankruptcy mill". I personally will consult with you, analyze your case, and review with you all of your options, providing a written fee estimate. I will attend your 341(a) meeting, and I will insure that the Trustee has all the paperwork and information she or he needs to conclude your case. I will monitor your case through discharge and handle any further after filing issues.

We are located off I-15 at Carroll Canyon Road in San Diego, California, and are open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Payments plans and military discounts for active duty service members are available. We are experienced in representing military members and their spouses. We also provide services for drafting and processing Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs) for post-dissolution, tax free division of 401ks, private pension and retirements plans, and Court Orders Acceptable for Processing (COAPs) to divide military retirement accounts, Thrift Savings Plans, and FERS or CSRS federal pensions. "I use my Masters in Taxation to help structure support orders, property divisions, and retirement, 401(K)s, or pension plan division orders (QDRO's), which give my clients income tax advantages. This expertise gives us an edge in settlement negotiations and keeping QDRO's in house rather than referred to outside counsel, saving clients thousands of dollars." - Andrea Whitehill, Esq.
When I went to law school, I decided I wanted to help regular, working class people with legal problems. I quickly learned that many people who were in crisis had financial and family problems, but few could afford quality legal representation. Helping people get out from under the banking system's abuses and the slavery of overwhelming debt, and resolve their family conflicts and provide support for their children, without gouging them for the services helps me pursue my lifelong goals.
In the 1980's, for over five years, I was the managing attorney for several Jacoby & Meyers community offices, rigorously trained by experienced attorneys, consulting with as many as ten to fifteen clients each day in all areas of the law, analyzing their cases and giving them fee estimates. I kept all of the family law in house, and referred out to the specialty units everything else. When the firm downsized on the west coast, I was appointed as the "bankruptcy unit" attorney and suddenly had hundreds of cases to file and complete. I went out on my own, and made bankruptcy a part of my practice. I believe over the years that I have filed in excess of 2000 bankruptcies successfully ( I lost count a long time ago).
All of the staff in my firm work hard to give the best service possible to help our clients through the often-frightening process of filing bankruptcy as painlessly as possible. We know who our clients are, and what they need most. We work with them so that filing bankruptcy does not become their biggest problem, but their best solution. We offer personal attention, efficient processing, and great service.
I was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to San Diego to complete my education. I went to Western State University of Law (now named Thomas Jefferson School of Law) earning a Bachelor of Science in Law and a Juris Doctorate. .
I passed the California Bar the first time I sat for it, and was admitted to the Bar in April of 1982. I joined my husband in a general practice while attending the University of San Diego School of Law where I received a Master of Laws in Taxation in 1987. I then worked for Jacoby & Meyers for five years as a Managing Attorney. In 1992 I relocated to the Sarasota area of Florida to be near family. I was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1994 and opened my own law firm. In 2010 when I relocated back to California. I transferred my practice to the Scripps Ranch/Mira Mesa area of San Diego, where I concentrate in consumer bankruptcy and divorce/family law.
I have two children and four grandchildren and live in Poway, California with my family, two dogs, three cats, a bearded dragon, a Russian desert tortoise, and a flock of chickens. I have a vegetable garden and grow fruit trees.
