For over 20 years the lawyers at The Law Center P.C. have represented residents of Douglas County. This is our home and we know the players. Some lawyers tout how aggressive they are, we think lawyers should be judged by their effectiveness. Call us.
Small enough to give personal attention to your case, large enough to do it efficiently and effectively. The Law Center P.C. is organized into two practice groups: Litigation and Estate Planning & Transactional.
Our litigation group handles Family Law, Criminal Justice, and Appellate matters. Our family law practice reflects our community. Many of our clients have complex marital estates, are business owners, and have children. The vast majority of our new family law cases are referred by mental health professionals, counselors, business advisors and CPAs, former clients, and yes even former opposing parties. They all trust our two decades of experience and the wisdom of our practitioners. Whether a divorce, post-decree modification of custody or support orders, adoptions, or dependency and neglect cases we can assist you with a goal to reducing impact on you and your family, Our appellate representation is limited to family law matters.
Our criminal justice practice is unique in that it also reflects our community. The vast majority of our criminal justice clients have no prior involvement with the criminal justice system. They are terrified of the impact their arrest or an investigation will have on their marriage or career. Our goal is to reduce the collateral damage of a criminal charge by early intervention and counseling that sets the stage for a favorable disposition through plea bargains. But yes, people do get wrongly accused and when that happens our skilled trial lawyers seek justice through trial and acquittal or dismissal of the charges by the prosecution. Our approach gives us credibility with the District Attorney's office and results in positive outcomes for our clients.
Our Estate Planning & Transactional group provides complete estate planning services, regardless of the size of your estate. Advance planning is the greatest gift your can give your family. Advance directives reduce stress at an emotional time. Give yourself the peace-of-mind of knowing that your loved ones won't experience chaos in your absence. Our focus is creating estate plans that not only provide for your heirs, but also provide protection for you during your lifetime. Using probate avoidance techniques we assure that more of your estate passes to your heirs rather than to lawyers and the court system. Whether its a trust, will, medical directives, powers of attorney, or complex tax avoidance estate plans our professionals can create an integrated plan that provides peace-of-mind and security. We also assist with estate administration (probate), entity formation, and other transactions.
No matter what your representation needs, underlying it all is one of the most technologically advanced and efficient legal offices in the state. Using state-of-the-art cloud computing platforms, everything from client intake, calendaring, document management, and court filings is done electronically and with the utmost of security. Our case and document management systems are fully encrypted both in transit and when stored assuring the security of your sensitive information. The data centers are all "on shore" so that you have the protections of U.S. law. Not only does our cloud network provide enhanced security, but it also facilitates greater access to the case file by our clients without them having stacks of paper lying around for prying eyes to peruse.

Effective representation at a reasonable price. Near the end of almost every divorce case the court orders an affidavit of attorney fees from both parties. Almost without exception the total fees charged by The Law Center P.C. are 20 to 30 percent lower than those of the opposing counsel--even when opposing counsel's hourly rate is higher than the TLC attorneys? How is this possible? It's the simple philosophy of assigning the task at hand to the most cost effective team member who can handle the task competently. Some law firms, particularly sole practitioners, employ little or no support staff. This results in the client being charged the lawyer's hourly rate for virtually everything done on their case. At The Law Center P.C. we employ experienced and capable legal assistants and paralegals to assist with clerical, ministerial, forensic, and investigatory functions. Our paralegals are some of the finest in the profession and have worked with our attorneys for years. Deadlines are met, evidence is gathered, exhibits are assembled, and the case prepared for trial by these support professionals working hand-in-hand with the responsible attorney on your case.
