I founded the firm in 1988, and we currently have two attorneys and four legal assistants. 95% of our work is in representing debtors in bankruptcy; we also do plaintiff personal injury and Social Security Disability appeals.

Example cases

I removed a creditor's lien from a home, 9th Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeal.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

During an early clerkship, the attorney I worked with did bankruptcy. I learned it from a Nolo book and became good at it.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

They should always try to.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Possibly, but the new bankruptcy laws are very strict and complicated.

Joseph A. Weber

Weber Firman

I have represented thousands of people and businesses in bankruptcy, and have always been self-employed.

All of my education and work experience, particularly the service jobs like clerk and cashier I had as a kid, have helped me to be a better lawyer.

I am well-versed in the new bankruptcy law, having studied it as it was being formulated over the last 8 years. I worked to actively oppose what I saw as a creditor-sponsored slap in the face to American consumers.

Casual, friendly, focused.

Personal interests:

I enjoy travel, music and film.
