I graduated from USF Law School in 1972, having been awarded the US Law Week Prize for academic achievement. Shortly after that, I started a private civil practice in Sonoma County which continues to this date.
My practice is limited to creation of estate plans (including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, etc.), trust administration, probates, and/or litigation if absolutely necessary.
My hourly rates start at $250 per hour but most estate plans are done on a flat-rate basis and my total fee for a complete plan is usually about $1,500, plus recording fees, and similar small costs.
My first meeting with a new client is free regardless of how long it takes. That first meeting will result in me making a suggestion to the client of the type of plan and documents which I feel are best suited to the client, along with a precise statement of how much that suggested plan would cost. If the client does not want to go ahead with the plan I have suggested at the price I have offered, there is no charge for the meeting.
I pride myself on delivery of quality legal services at reasonable rates. This means I make a purposeful effort to keep the planning documents as simple and understandable as possible, considering they still need to work. I am "old fashioned" about wanting clients to understand what they are signing and how the estate plan will work. Plans I prepare do not include pages of "boilerplate" which are not needed, and only serve to increase confusion and/or expense.
A good estate plan will avoid all potential future problems, minimize expenses, and will do so at a reasonable charge. It is my practice to provide such plans for my clients.
