Jiles Law P.A. is a Personal Injury and Social Security Disability law firm. We focus specifically on those two practice areas and have extensive experience with these specific practice areas.

Firm Overview

Our Firm is dedicated to helping people that are you struggling to make ends meet after becoming disabled or suffering an injury. Many people simply do not know that a person could be entitled to financial compensation to help you cope with all the different financial pressures that accompanies becoming injured and/or disabled. We want each client to feel comfortable sitting down with our team of professionals to find a solution for your particular and unique needs.

Jiles Law, P.A. believes in giving you the very best legal services we can. That means focusing on our very specialized areas of the law, which are Personal Injury and Social Security Disability. An injury or disability has the affect of putting you out of working or putting you in medical debt. Our firm works hard to make sure that you know and understand the different benefits that may be available to you if you are out of work. Additionally, we can help you manage mounting medical debt. If an injury has put you out of work or into medical debt, don't give up. Turn to our firm.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Yes of course. It helps us to understand the clients particular legal issue by reviewing as much information as we possibly can. Some clients like to prepare a timeline of events. Those type of notes prepared by the client are very helpful when it comes to reviewing medical documentation and preparing your injury/disability claim. Our observation has been that the more engaged the client is with our office and with their claim, the more satisfactory outcome for the client.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

It is never a good idea for a client to represent themselves. If the client does not wish to hire a lawyer or this law firm, we will always be willing to suggest resources for the client to review if the client wishes to proceed on their own. However, this firm is not in a position to answer specific questions about each clients specific legal needs without taking on that representation so that all facts are known to us. If our firm does not have all the information readily available, it is impossible for us, or any firm, to give legally sound advice.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Our firm decided on Personal Injury and Disability as its primary area of practice because that is what the firm owner has practiced nearly his entire career. Shawn Jiles started this law firm in 2014 after leaving a larger Personal Injury law firm. Shawn Jiles is a board certified civil trial lawyer, so it made sense to continue to practice Personal Injury Law. Shortly after, Shawn noticed that a lot of his clients had disability questions and disability needs that were associated with their Personal Injury case. As a result, Social Security Disability law became another practice area and is very closely associated with Personal Injury Law. So the answer to the question of how the firm chose the practice areas is that it just made sense with the experience of Shawn Jiles and the close relationship between Personal Injury Law and Social Security Disability Law.

Shawn Jiles

Shawn graduated from the Thomas M. Cooley College of Law in December of 2002 with honors. During law school, Shawn was an editor of the Law Review, a member of the 60+ elder law clinic, and participated in the mock trial and moot court programs and competitions.

After graduation, Shawn moved to Central Florida and began his legal career working as a criminal defense attorney in Bartow, FL. Shawn represented clients charged with misdemeanors, DUI, felonies, including, life felonies, murder, and sexual assault. After two years, Shawn stopped working as a criminal defense attorney and started working at a local personal injury law firm. During his practice as a criminal Defense Lawyer, Shawn tried more than 40 cases in front of a jury and received favorable verdicts on the vast majority of those cases.

Shawn further perfected his trial skills by trying several civil cases to verdict over the last 15 years. Civil cases, unlike criminal cases involve disputes between two or more people or companies regarding their legal rights. Both criminal and civil cases present unique legal issues that Shawn is well versed to handle.

In February 2014, Shawn opened JILES LAW P.A. Shawn brings more than 15 years of experience negotiating claims with insurance companies and trying cases against insurance companies to the practice areas of Personal Injury and Social Security Disability.

Shawn is very active in the community. He is a member of the Bartow rotary and has previously served as President of the rotary club. Shawn has previously volunteered his time to teach high school students about the law, trial practice, and procedure. Shawn is a former member of the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity of East Polk County. Shawn is a very proud parent of a 10 year old daughter.
