Firm Overview

We Can Explain The Advantages Of Bankruptcy

Our firm starts by helping you determine whether bankruptcy is a good option for you. We explain the law in a clear, comprehensible way that shows the benefits of filing for bankruptcy, as well as the long-term effects on your credit. We will help you understand the difference between Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy and discuss which one might be appropriate for your circumstances.
Helping You Take Control Of Your Finances

We want you to understand the law well enough to make informed decisions, which gives you a greater sense of control over the process. Knowing you are making the right decisions for yourself and your family is empowering. At our firm, we have found that bankruptcy clients who feel empowered and in control are better able to avoid financial trouble in the future.

As much as we enjoy helping each of our clients, we hope you only need to file for bankruptcy once. To that end, we go the extra mile for you. We explain the law and your options at the beginning of the process, but we also help you learn about managing your budget at the end. Your bankruptcy case could be filed with the court in a matter of days, but you can set up an appointment to discuss your case anytime.

Bankruptcy

Jeff's purpose for practicing law is to make this world a better place for our children's children and to ensure future generations have the same liberties others sometimes take for granted.

Jeff is a member of the Alabama State Bar Association, the Huntsville-Madison County Bar, and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. Jeff has been admitted to practice in the United States Bankruptcy Courts Northern and Middle districts of Alabama, United States District Court, United States Tax Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

In 2012, Jeff was honored by the Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association as Pro Bono Bankruptcy Lawyer of the Year.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Through his undergraduate and law school studies, Jeff believed that he would be a trial lawyer assisting the under-represented and helping lift others up in ways only the law can. Jeff works hard to help good people, families, and the local mom and pop businesses thrive in an ever increasing anti-consumer/anti-small business world.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others?

He has worked with clients from all over the state of Alabama to devise unique, meaningful, and effective debt elimination strategies, including bankruptcy filings, workout agreements, IRS settlements and appeals. Many of his success stories demonstrate this ideology.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

Jeff has spent his 15 years serving individuals when they experience financial hardship. He has dedicated his time helping clients with debt counseling and bankruptcy in Huntsville, Birmingham, Cullman, Tuscaloosa, Anniston, Bessemer, Talladega, Gadsden, Florence, Decatur and the surrounding towns in North Alabama and Southern Tennessee. As a result, Jeff has practiced law before every Bankruptcy Judge and Trustee in the Northern District of Alabama.

What are your firm's strengths and style?

Jeff is a two time Ironman 140.6 mile triathlon finisher with medals in 2012 and 2013. He is a laid back, get down to business attorney. Jeff works hard to achieve the results his clients expect.

A native of Alabama, Jeff an Alabama lawyer grew up in Madison County. Although from a small area, Jeff began stepping ahead in a leadership role early. He put down the baseball bat and picked up his tennis racket to become the youngest seventh grade Varsity High School player. Jeff went on to be a State Tennis Champion in Alabama which culminated into his playing tournaments in Europe and later attending Furman University on scholarship for tennis.

In 1995, Jeff received his Bachelor of Arts degree double majoring in political science and psychology. His scholarship included the study of economics, history, and philosophy. Not shy to work, Jeff held down three simultaneous jobs in college. As a resident manager of an apartment complex, student union center building manager and Brewer Porch Children Center social worker, Jeff kept a roof over his head and food on the table all while maintaining a 3.5 GPA.

Prior to beginning his legal studies, in the summer of 1995 Jeff clerked for Congressman Robert "Bud" Cramer in Washington D.C. In 1998 he spent his third year of law school at The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. In 1999 Jeff received his Juris Doctorate from The University of Oklahoma Law College in Norman, Oklahoma.

Memorialized in Jeff's historic downtown law office is his grandfather, William B. Grigsby's, WWII personal affects. Mr. Grigsby was a Silver Star and Purple Heart recipient. Jeff treats Veterans and Service Members with honor. Jeff holds a special place in his heart for the men and women who have served our Country.

He is married to Elizabeth, a beautiful Christian woman whom he cherishes and is the love of his life.
