Chicago Workplace Injury Lawyers
Unfortunately, workplace accidents and illnesses are far too common. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2013 alone there were more than three million reportable work related injuries and illnesses in the United States and the number of fatal occupational injuries stood at 4,405. Workplace accidents and illnesses can seriously impact an employee's ability to earn a living and cause medical bills to skyrocket very quickly. Even if a work-related injury is minor, an employee may still need to take substantial time off of work to treat an injury, resulting in a significant loss of wages.
If you have been injured on the job in Illinois, you may have the right to receive compensation for your lost wages and medical expenses. In most cases, work related accidents and injuries will fall under the protection of the Illinois workers' compensation laws. However, depending upon the particular circumstances of your case and the cause of your injury, you may be able to pursue additional claims against third parties who are responsible for your injuries. For instance, if you were hurt while driving a car at work and another driver was at fault, you may have the right to collect both workers' compensation benefits and damages from the other driver. Also, if your work-related injury or illness was due to a defective product in the workplace, you may be able to bring a legal action against the manufacturer or supplier of the product.
Handling a Complete Range of Workplace Injuries
The laws dealing with workplace injuries and illnesses can be very confusing to understand and navigate. If you have been injured on the job, you should discuss your situation with an experienced Chicago workers' compensation attorney. There are strict time limits and procedures that must be followed in order to file a legal claim. If you miss a deadline or fail to comply with a legal rule, you may lose the right to receive compensation in your case.
When you are dealing with a work-related injury or illness, it is important to work with an experienced legal team that knows how to effectively handle workplace accident claims. Our Chicago injury lawyers have the knowledge and skills necessary to handle a complete range of workplace illness and injury cases, including:
