Marlo Greer

Marlo Greer is an accomplished trial lawyer who centers her practice in the area of serious personal injury. Her practice focuses on motor vehicle collisions, sexual abuse, medical malpractice, hospital negligence, slip and fall, and nursing home negligence. She provides aggressive and compassionate representation to individuals and families who have suffered injuries at the hands of others.

You will never hear Ms. Greer use the term “accident” when it comes to the injuries suffered by her clients. She believes that hurting another individual whether intentionally or negligently is never a simple accident. In her role as advocate, counselor, and trial attorney, she knows that one of her most important qualities is the ability to listen and understand the needs of the individuals she represents. In her mind the most important accolade an attorney can receive is a client’s sincere “thank you” for the representation provided.

Ms. Greer has been involved in numerous medical cases, including surgical malpractice, retained instrument cases, orthopedic injuries, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, gastrointestinal injuries, birth injuries, patient death, nursing errors, and mismanaged
infections. Ms. Greer’s representation of her clients has resulted in settlements and verdicts ranging from five figure cases to multi-million dollar cases. There is no “small case” to her. Every case and every client is important.

While in Law School, Ms. Greer suffered a spinal fracture after being thrown from a horse. This injury gave her first-hand experience regarding inappropriate medical care and dealing with insurance companies that put profits before people. Due to these experiences, Ms. Greer dedicates her practice to ensuring that her clients receive personal representation in the same manner that she would wish to be treated as a victim of negligent conduct. For her, every case deserves personal and professional attention.

Ms. Greer has lived in Colorado most of her life, graduating from the University of Colorado at Denver in 1997 and receiving the Dean’s scholarship for academic achievement. She received her J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law in 2001, earning the distinction of Student of the Year in the Student Law Office. During college and Law School, Ms. Greer focused on her trial skills by participating in mock trial competitions and by acting as a student lawyer for individuals accused of crimes who could not afford representation. After graduating Law School, she focused on her trial practice in the area of criminal defense and personal injury at a small firm whose goal was to ensure the rights of individuals accused of crimes and that the rights of victims of automobile collisions were protected. Before becoming a founding member of Greer Law Firm, Ms. Greer continued her work as an advocate for the injured with midsized plaintiff’s firms representing medical malpractice victims and people who suffered traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries and orthopedic injuries. Ms. Greer also worked with a defense firm representing medical professionals. Her experience as a defense lawyer gives her valuable insight into insurance company tactics, which now helps her serve her clients as a plaintiff’s attorney.

Ms. Greer lives in Denver and is committed to her community and family. She spent several years as the garden leader for the Stapleton Greenway Garden, which is a Denver Urban Gardens (DUG) community garden committed to providing local communities with fresh
produce while fostering healthy values and community involvement. The Greenway Garden provides residents with the opportunity for a sustainable food source for gardeners of all ages, experience, and income levels. She also served on the State Board of Social Work Examiners, which reviews complaints related to alleged violations of the Practice Act for Social Workers and volunteered her time on a Hospital Board that reviews medical research and studies related to improving medical care. When she is not working or volunteering, she loves spending time with her husband and fellow bar member, Brian Proffitt, and their two children. She is an avid runner who strives to meet her goal of completing at least four half-marathons per year. Whenever someone asks about running, she says she’s only “half-crazy.”

Ms. Greer is licensed to practice in Colorado State Courts, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. She has been admitted to practice in Indiana, Montana and Wyoming. She is a member of the American Association for
Justice, the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, the Colorado Women’s Bar Association, and the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations.

Greer Law
Kevin VanDonselaar

Kevin VanDonselaar is a multi-disciplined lawyer with global experience serving both the interests of his clients and Country. Growing up in Brush, Colorado, Kevin learned the value of hard work, determination, and the importance of personal relationships. Since graduating from the University of Colorado School of Law, Kevin’s legal career has taken him across Afghanistan, and into the boardrooms of hospitals as well as the courtrooms of Colorado. His experience and proven track record demonstrate his commitment to fiercely advocating for his clients.

Kevin focuses his practice on the Plaintiff’s personal injury. He knows the difficulties faced when individuals and families are affected by the negligence of others. Kevin aggressively and compassionately ensures that the needs of his clients are met and are handled professionally and personally. Kevin is a zealous advocate for his clients who relentlessly works to protect his clients’ rights and fight on their behalf. Kevin’s tenaciousness and commitment enables him to obtain favorable results for his clients.

For two years Kevin served his country in Afghanistan as a Justice Advisor for the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement sector of the U.S. State Department. During his time in Afghanistan, he worked to establish Rule of Law and received promotions to Regional Team Leader and Deputy Field Director. First hand he has seen and experienced the difficulties of reintegrating back into society for those who have spent time overseas. Kevin has committed himself to assisting veterans and is a proud contributor to the Wounded Warrior Project.

His experience in Afghanistan and as a youth sports football coach has given him unique insights, which he brings to his clients who have suffered traumatic brain injuries. Whether the injury occurred as a result of a car crash, sports injury, or physical abuse, Kevin brings his understanding of how these injuries affect every aspect of someone’s life to each case he handles. He understands the importance of return to play decisions following a head injury. As coach, father, and attorney he ensures that concussion protocol is followed and return to play decisions are made appropriately.

Kevin’s commitment to his church and his faith serves as the foundation for his impassioned representation of sexual assault victims. When a religious institution lets down its parishioners and fails to protect its community, Kevin considers this a violation of all he stands for as a man of faith. Fighting for victims of clergy abuse is not just a job, it is a cause.

In Colorado, Kevin spent eight years serving as a Deputy District Attorney for both Denver and Adams Counties. During his time as a prosecutor, he tried and negotiated hundreds of cases, ranging from drunk driving to homicides. During this time Kevin was elected as the State Legislative Representative for the Colorado Juvenile Council for over six years. He was also selected for the JAIBG Committee which focused on rehabilitating violent juvenile offenders and reuniting them with their families while becoming productive members of society. Kevin even used his experiences and education in Criminal Law and Procedure to teach legal courses in the evenings at colleges in the Denver Metro area.

Prior to working with The Greer Law Group, Kevin worked as the Director of Business Development and Contracts Attorney for Pacific Medical, a prominent sports medicine company throughout the western United States. While at Pacific Medical, Kevin negotiated and drafted numerous multi-million dollar contracts, was involved in product settlement discussions, and gained valuable insight into the inner workings of insurance companies and the healthcare industry. Kevin’s familiarity with medical device and insurance companies gives him a unique perspective in his representation of victims who have been injured by defective products or suffered injustices at the hands of insurance companies. In his position as Of Counsel, he focuses his attention on a limited number of cases, each with a personal conviction very few attorneys achieve.

Kevin is active in his church, family, and youth sports. An avid coach, Kevin donates his time to coaching high school football, as well as youth basketball.
