Whether or not someone leaves a will, the deceased person's property may have to be distributed through the probate process, a complicated and costly court procedure. If you want to achieve probate avoidance in your estate plan, or if you are seeking guidance through the probate process, you can find the trustworthy service you need at Flatiron Legal Advisors.

Our Boulder probate attorney is a former business owner, and as such, his legal representation is backed by a practical grasp of complicated finances. At our firm, we are committed to providing this knowledgeable counsel at cost-effective and transparent fees. Don't hesitate to find out how we can help you.

If you leave your estate without a will (called an "intestate estate"), your property will most likely have to go through probate court, where your assets will be divided according to state law, and not according to your wishes. Even with a last will and testament, however, your estate could enter probate. If you are drawing up an estate plan, our firm can help you create a trust and pursue other probate avoidance strategies.

If a loved one has passed away, probate is one of the last things that anyone wants to focus on. Yet you may need to defend you and your loved one's rights in court, while still avoiding disputes such as will contests. Let us handle the legal proceedings. We can help you protect your loved one's wishes and your family's rights.

- Informal Probate: This is when there is a valid will and representative to handle the procedures. There is limited court involvement in informal probate.
- Formal Probate: This could be necessary when a will's validity is unclear or challenged. The same goes if there is no will, no heirs, no clear beneficiaries, or if there are property disputes. The court will supervise, and may have to approve all transactions.
- Small Estates: An estate can avoid probate if it is valued at less than $60,000 and has no real estate. Property can be transferred through a 'Collection of Personal Property by Affidavit.'

Whatever your circumstance, we are ready to listen to your needs, and we are equipped to provide the compassionate legal support you need. Our Boulder probate lawyer is further committed to maximizing your results, decreasing your courtroom involvement while minimizing your out-of-pocket costs . We hold ourselves to exceptional standards to ensure that you receive the service you deserve.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

Here's what our clients are saying:

"Dave Rich is phenomenal! My battle took just over a year but he stuck with it & showed his dedication in fighting for what my children & I needed. I'm a single mother with limited income, Dave takes proper steps to keep costs low. He is very dedicated and diligent! The opposing party and his attorney were very difficult to work with, but Dave pushed back and showed he can stand up to the challenges that were presented to us. Every challenge was met by a proper rebuttal backed by logic and facts that could not be argued. Dave was even able to achieve being awarded fees from the opposing party in one instance! This really helped us out and reduced my costs. I'm very pleased with Mr. Rich's responsiveness & commitment to helping protect, my family's needs. I had limited time available to discuss matters with him during business hours but he took time after business hours to talk with me about the issues that needed addressed. I have worked in a law firm myself before and have never found an attorney to be more open and available than Mr. Rich! I couldn't have asked for a better attorney to help me in such a difficult time! I'm so very grateful for his coaching."

"He answered my question quickly and precisely. He gave me very good information that helped me make a decision about how to proceed. THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your expertise."

"As a non-parent, I was very apprehensive about pursuing custody of my nephew, who had been living with me for three years. Dave was the perfect choice. While being comfortable with his legal knowledge, there was the big benefit of the guidance to keep a level head and not get bogged down in the needless fighting that can become such a complication in custody issues. I'm happy to say that the outcome of the case ended with a result that is best and balanced for the child involved. I think my experience would have been a lot more difficult without Dave!"

"Dave helped us with our estate planning and wills/living wills, which we had been procrastinating on doing for years! We were overwhelmed and daunted with the thought of tackling all of the decisions, options and paperwork. Dave made it actually go very smoothly and was an amazing help. He did a lot of "hand holding" and provided us with great and helpful information. I would recommend him to anyone needing legal help."

"Made you feel very comfortable. Fees are much lower than other good attorneys in the area. Just a good trustworthy guy. I am going back to him for several additional issues."
