Patents

Fenty IP Law, PLLC brings a host of Intellectual Property services to the Marketplace. We help Inventors and business owners protect their business ideas using various forms of Intellectual Property protection.

Fenty IP Law, PLLC provides Intellectual Property services that include, but are not limited to: pre-filing Patent and Trademark searches, Drafting and Filing Patent and Trademark Applications, Drafting Opinion Letters for Patentability, Trademarkabilty, and Freedom-to-Operate (Non-Infringement/Clearance); Filing and responding to Trademark Oppositions; Copyright Filings; Cease-and-Desist Letters; and Negotiating Licenses.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Yes. Especially in the field of Patents, we encourage Clients to describe their ideas in writing and provide drawings as well. In general, the more disclosure a Client can provide, the easier the lawyer's job to edit and prepare a final document. Also if the Client does some of the work, the attorney time and fees can be reduced accordingly.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Yes, to an extent. While some Intellectual Property (IP) matters may appear that they can be done by a non-attorney, what is missed is that the language used when filing for Intellectual Property protection and when responding to USPTO office actions, is very nuanced, specific, and technical. Most IP attorneys are trained how to prepare documents, what to say, and what not to say. The layperson cannot make up this gap.
