David J. Dunn

President

David J. Dunn was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas.He received his Bachelor of Science Degree, magna cum laude, in 1974 from the University of Houston. In 1977 he graduated from the University of Texas School of Law, receiving a degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence, with honors. He began his legal career in March 1977 with the insurance defense firm of Dyer, Redford, Burnett, Wray & Woolsey. Several years later this firm merged with another local firm to form Kleberg, Dyer, Redford & Weil, which became the largest firm in Corpus Christi. After receiving an offer of partnership, he left the Kleberg firm in 1981 and joined the firm of Brin & Brin, P.C., which is also an insurance defense firm in Corpus Christi, Texas. He practiced with Brin & Brin as a partner in the firm until April 1988, when he left to form The Law Office of David J. Dunn, P.C.

Mr. Dunn has extensive experience handling all areas of insurance defense work. Frank Weathered

Frank Weathered was born and raised in Waco, Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a membership in Phi Beta Kappa and received his Bachelor of Arts degree, with Highest Honors, in 1975. He then attended the Law School at Texas Tech University, where he became an Editor of the Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. He also received the William R. Moss Award for Excellency in Trial Advocacy. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, with High Honors, in 1978.

He began his legal career in 1978 as a Law Clerk to Justice Gerald T. Bissett on the Court of Appeals for the Thirteenth District of Texas, where he served for two years. In October 1980 he joined the insurance defense section of Meredith & Donnell, P.C., a Corpus Christi firm, and in July 1984 he became a partner in that firm. In September 1985 he joined the insurance defense firm of Brin & Brin, P.C., in Corpus Christi, where he was Of Counsel. In February 1989 he left Brin & Brin, P.C., to join the Law Office of David J. Dunn, P.C.

Mr. Weathered has extensive experience in the field of civil appellate law. He was one of the first lawyers in Texas to be Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Appellate Law. He has argued numerous appeals, including cases in various Courts of Appeal in Texas, the Texas Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Lawrence (Larry) A. Coffey

Larry Coffey was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, magna cum laude, in 1980 from the University of Houston. In 1983 he graduated from the University of Houston School of Law, receiving a degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence. He initially went into practice in Corpus Christi with his father, an attorney who had practiced law for many years in Corpus Christi. Within the first year of his practice he was asked to join the District Attorney's office as an Assistant District Attorney for Nueces, Kleberg and Kennedy Counties. He prosecuted felony criminal cases until 1986, at which time he joined the law firm of Redford, Wray and Woolsey, where he handled an insurance defense trial docket.

In early 1993 Redford, Wray and Woolsey changed its name to Broyles & Pratt, and Mr. Coffey was made a shareholder of the firm. In 1997 Mr. Coffey left Broyles & Pratt and joined the firm of Dunn & Weathered, P.C.

Mr. Coffey has handled workers' compensation cases, products liability claims, extra-contractual liability cases against insurance carriers, DTPA cases, multi-party negligence cases, automobile accident claims and cases involving off-shore accidents.

Augustin Rivera, Jr.

Augustin Rivera, Jr., a native and lifelong resident of South Texas, grew up in the small town of Driscoll, which is located approximately 30 miles from Corpus Christi. Mr. Rivera attended Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and graduated in 1984 with a degree in History. In the summer of 1983 he attended the LBJ School of Public Policy at the University of Texas as a public policy fellow. He then pursued the study of law at Stanford Law School in Palo Alto, California, and received his juris doctorate degree in 1987. During law school, Mr. Rivera served as a legal intern for the Honorable Robert P. Aguilar, a U.S. District Judge in San Jose, California, and also served on the Board of Directors for the East Palo Alto Community Law Project, which provided pro bono legal services to the indigent citizens of East Palo Alto.

In 1987, Mr. Rivera began his legal career with the Corpus Christi law firm of Gary, Thomasson, Hall & Marks. In 1990 Mr. Rivera was later recruited by Rangel & Chriss, P.C., where he worked on a wide variety of trial and appellate matters. In 1999, Mr. Rivera joined the firm of Barger, Hermansen, McKibben & Villarreal in Corpus Christi, where he continued handling cases and representing clients throughout South Texas in both trial work and appellate matters. Patrick R. Kasperitis was born in Bristol, Pennsylvania on December 4, 1964. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986 from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. In 1989 he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Houston School of Law. He began his legal career in 1989 doing insurance defense work for the Corpus Christi firm of Meredith, Donnell & Abernethy. In 1997 Mr. Kasperitis left the Meredith, Donnell & Abernethy firm to form the law firm of Kasperitis & Gowan, P.C., which later became Williams, Kasperitis & Gowan, P.C. David J. Dunn

President

David J. Dunn was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas.He received his Bachelor of Science Degree, magna cum laude, in 1974 from the University of Houston. In 1977 he graduated from the University of Texas School of Law, receiving a degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence, with honors. He began his legal career in March 1977 with the insurance defense firm of Dyer, Redford, Burnett, Wray & Woolsey. Several years later this firm merged with another local firm to form Kleberg, Dyer, Redford & Weil, which became the largest firm in Corpus Christi. After receiving an offer of partnership, he left the Kleberg firm in 1981 and joined the firm of Brin & Brin, P.C., which is also an insurance defense firm in Corpus Christi, Texas. He practiced with Brin & Brin as a partner in the firm until April 1988, when he left to form The Law Office of David J. Dunn, P.C.

Mr. Dunn has extensive experience handling all areas of insurance defense work. Frank Weathered

Frank Weathered was born and raised in Waco, Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a membership in Phi Beta Kappa and received his Bachelor of Arts degree, with Highest Honors, in 1975. He then attended the Law School at Texas Tech University, where he became an Editor of the Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. He also received the William R. Moss Award for Excellency in Trial Advocacy. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, with High Honors, in 1978.

He began his legal career in 1978 as a Law Clerk to Justice Gerald T. Bissett on the Court of Appeals for the Thirteenth District of Texas, where he served for two years. In October 1980 he joined the insurance defense section of Meredith & Donnell, P.C., a Corpus Christi firm, and in July 1984 he became a partner in that firm. In September 1985 he joined the insurance defense firm of Brin & Brin, P.C., in Corpus Christi, where he was Of Counsel. In February 1989 he left Brin & Brin, P.C., to join the Law Office of David J. Dunn, P.C.

Mr. Weathered has extensive experience in the field of civil appellate law. He was one of the first lawyers in Texas to be Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Appellate Law. He has argued numerous appeals, including cases in various Courts of Appeal in Texas, the Texas Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is licensed to practice in Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Lawrence (Larry) A. Coffey

Larry Coffey was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, magna cum laude, in 1980 from the University of Houston. In 1983 he graduated from the University of Houston School of Law, receiving a degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence. He initially went into practice in Corpus Christi with his father, an attorney who had practiced law for many years in Corpus Christi. Within the first year of his practice he was asked to join the District Attorney's office as an Assistant District Attorney for Nueces, Kleberg and Kennedy Counties. He prosecuted felony criminal cases until 1986, at which time he joined the law firm of Redford, Wray and Woolsey, where he handled an insurance defense trial docket.

In early 1993 Redford, Wray and Woolsey changed its name to Broyles & Pratt, and Mr. Coffey was made a shareholder of the firm. In 1997 Mr. Coffey left Broyles & Pratt and joined the firm of Dunn & Weathered, P.C.

Mr. Coffey has handled workers' compensation cases, products liability claims, extra-contractual liability cases against insurance carriers, DTPA cases, multi-party negligence cases, automobile accident claims and cases involving off-shore accidents.

Augustin Rivera, Jr.

Augustin Rivera, Jr., a native and lifelong resident of South Texas, grew up in the small town of Driscoll, which is located approximately 30 miles from Corpus Christi. Mr. Rivera attended Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and graduated in 1984 with a degree in History. In the summer of 1983 he attended the LBJ School of Public Policy at the University of Texas as a public policy fellow. He then pursued the study of law at Stanford Law School in Palo Alto, California, and received his juris doctorate degree in 1987. During law school, Mr. Rivera served as a legal intern for the Honorable Robert P. Aguilar, a U.S. District Judge in San Jose, California, and also served on the Board of Directors for the East Palo Alto Community Law Project, which provided pro bono legal services to the indigent citizens of East Palo Alto.

In 1987, Mr. Rivera began his legal career with the Corpus Christi law firm of Gary, Thomasson, Hall & Marks. In 1990 Mr. Rivera was later recruited by Rangel & Chriss, P.C., where he worked on a wide variety of trial and appellate matters. In 1999, Mr. Rivera joined the firm of Barger, Hermansen, McKibben & Villarreal in Corpus Christi, where he continued handling cases and representing clients throughout South Texas in both trial work and appellate matters. He was made a partner in the firm in 2001. Mr. Rivera joined Dunn, Weathered, Coffey, Rivera and Kasperitis, P.C. in January 2003.

Mr. Rivera is licensed to practice in Texas. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Texas, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Rivera is fluent in Spanish.

In 1990 Mr. Rivera was later recruited by Rangel & Chriss, P.C., where he worked on a wide variety of trial and appellate matters. In 1999, Mr. Rivera joined the firm of Barger, Hermansen, McKibben & Villarreal in Corpus Christi, where he continued handling cases and representing clients throughout South Texas in both trial work and appellate matters. He was made a partner in the firm in 2001. Mr. Rivera joined Dunn, Weathered, Coffey, Rivera and Kasperitis, P.C. in January 2003.

Mr. Rivera is licensed to practice in Texas. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Texas, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Rivera is fluent in Spanish.

Patrick R. Kasperitis was born in Bristol, Pennsylvania on December 4, 1964. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986 from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. In 1989 he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Houston School of Law. He began his legal career in 1989 doing insurance defense work for the Corpus Christi firm of Meredith, Donnell & Abernethy. In 1997 Mr. Kasperitis left the Meredith, Donnell & Abernethy firm to form the law firm of Kasperitis & Gowan, P.C., which later became Williams, Kasperitis & Gowan, P.C. Mr. Kasperitis joined Dunn & Weathered, P.C. in 2002.

Mr. Kasperitis has extensive experience in all aspects of personal injury litigation, handling both trial and appellate issues. He has served as lead counsel in a wide variety of cases involving complex commercial litigation, products liability actions, maritime actions, DTPA cases and employment law cases.
