Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Reviewing document prepared by clients is one of the unbundled services offered. Dennis Law is happy to provide client with unbundled services. It is important clients understand unbundled services are not available on an emergency basis, please contact us as early in the process as possible.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I encourage clients to educate themselves on legal issues. Law is fundamentally a customer service profession. A large portion of my initial consultation involves explaining applicable law so my clients can better understand the options available.

Understanding your legal options is a critical first step. I help a client develop a personalized legal plan to accomplish their individual goals. This process only works when clients understand the law applicable to their case.

How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?

Mediation or negotiation is used in almost every case; more than 90% of cases resolve before trial.

Negotiated settlements give clients options not available in court. For example, in family law cases, joint custody must be agreed pretrial. Settlement also remove the uncertainty and cost associated with trial.

Unfortunately settlements can be difficult to negotiate. Mediation often helps resolve final disagreements. Mediation is not a perfect process, some cases still must be resolved by trial.

Arbitration is a binding process that largely replaces the court system. Arbitration is rare in our practice and only appropriate when parties have an absolute mutual need for confidentiality.
