Matthew specializes in litigation and the representation of individuals and businesses in matters involving complex commercial disputes, contract negotiations and disputes, construction law, environmental regulatory issues, real property disputes and tort liability, including personal injury claims. He also regularly handles real estate transactions. Prior to relocating to Lake Placid, Matthew was employed as a litigation attorney at the Manhattan-based law firm of Condon & Forsyth LLP, in New York City. From 2001 to 2002, Matthew also served as in-house, corporate counsel for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. in Tokyo, Japan, where he gained extensive experience in the drafting and negotiating of major commercial construction and manufacturing supply agreements, as well as intellectual property confidentiality agreements. Matthew's experience includes:

-Defending construction companies in lawsuits involving breach of contract and defective work claims
-Representing individuals in personal injury actions
-Representing real property owners in litigation involving easements and adverse use and possession claims and other title issues
-Defending businesses and individuals in criminal actions and administrative enforcment proceedings commenced by NYS APA and NYS DEC
-Obtaining a favorable verdict after trial for a real estate agency arising out of a breach of an asset purchase agreement
-Representing lending institutions in residential foreclosure actions
-Representing a municipality in territory annexation proceedings
-Drafting and negotiating complex contracts for the design, construction and servicing of large power cogeneration facility projects in Asia, Africa and the Middle East
-Successfully conducting extensive contract negotiations in Europe and Japan with a leading global manufacturer of earthmoving vehicles resulting in two long-term commercial contracts to design and supply technologically advanced combustion engines
-Drafting and negotiating a long-term production agreement for the global supply of engine components for a leading aircraft engine manufacturer
-Representing and advising sophisticated commercial entities, including major foreign and domestic airline carriers and leading global trade manufacturers, in complex litigation and other matters on the subject of aviation law, construction law, international business law and trade, acquisitions of aircraft, products liability claims, mass tort law and contractual disputes
-Actively participating in the defense of airlines in the course of litigation, including high profile, multijurisdictional lawsuits arising out of the terrorists attack on September 11, 2001, the 2001 airplane crash near Belle Harbor, New York, and the 1990 airplane crash off the coast of Nantucket
-Counseling clients in connection with asset and stock purchasing transactions
-Representing landowners before NYS APA and local zoning and planning boards
-Serving as a part-time assistant district attorney for Essex County from 2004 to 2006
