Stephen Janis

Stephen (Steve) is a native Californian. He was born and raised in Upland, California, where his father has owned and operated several small businesses for over 40 years and his Mother was an educator for over 20 years. Steve graduated from Damien High School in La Verne and attended California State University, San Bernardino, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with minors in Philosophy and Political Science. He attended the University of La Verne Law School, where he received his Juris Doctor degree. Steve’s background includes over 15 years of banking experience with a major California bank.

James Banks

James Banks, Jr. was born in 1942 in Los Angeles, California. His mother (Janette Trautman Banks) and father (Harold Banks) were both raised in Ontario, California, and one of his grandmothers was born in Upland, California. He has a strong interest in the history of the area and has often been involved in local city planning committees.

Mr. Banks is a 1960 graduate of Chaffey High School, 1964 graduate of Stanford University and 1967 graduate of U.C.L.A. Law School. He has been a director and officer, including President, of the local and county bar associations. He is or has been attorney for approximately twelve judges and twenty-five attorneys and their families. He is the seventh and by far the youngest of about 12 recipients of the John B. Surr Award, given occasionally over the past 25 years to “outstanding attorneys and judges of San Bernardino County”.

Mr. Banks is also an active member of the Choroideremia Research Foundation, an organization that provides support and information to those affected by Choroideremia (CHM).
