Reginald W. Abrams

Partner Reginald W. Abrams primarily practices school law as the General Counsel for the Caddo Parish School Board in Shreveport, Louisiana. As General Counsel for the School Board, he provides legal opinions and advice, reviews policies, attends board meetings, participates in grievance, tenure, and student disciplinary hearings, and provides counsel on special education issues and budgetary matters. He also handles litigation including insurance defense, municipal liability, and commercial litigation matters.

Formerly a Director at Blanchard, Walker, O'Quin & Roberts Law Corporation, Mr. Abrams became partner of Abrams & Lafargue, L.L.C. along with Julie Lafargue in 1995. He also served as a law clerk at the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeal. Prior to law school, Mr. Abrams was a pharmacist at K&B Drugs in Baton Rouge.

In addition to his practice at Abrams & Lafargue, he actively contributes to the Shreveport community as a volunteer: Mr. Abrams will lead the Shreveport Rotary Club as President beginning in 2014. He is similarly involved in several other community organizations, enumerated below.

Julie M. Lafargue

Partner Julie M. Lafargue has practiced law for over thirty years, focusing her practice on governmental tort law, expropriation and eminent domain, and litigation relating to insurance defense and commercial litigation. Ms. Lafargue represents the Louisiana Department of Transportation in expropriation and highway right of way acquisition, and also handles flooding and tort litigation for the City of Shreveport.

After graduating in 1981, Ms. Lafargue worked at Lunn, Irion, Switzer, Johnson & Salley in Shreveport until 1985. She then became a Director at Blanchard, Walker, O'Quin & Roberts, P.L.C., for ten years. In 1995, Ms. Lafargue partnered with Reginald W. Abrams to establish Abrams & Lafargue, L.L.C.

Outside of her legal practice, Ms. Lafargue stays active within the Shreveport Bar Association, for which she has served variously as Vice-President, President Elect, and President, beginning in 2008. She is currently Vice-President of the organization. In addition to her involvement with the Shreveport Bar Association, she is a fellow of the Louisiana Bar Foundation, a member of the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Association of Defense Council, and a member of the International Right of Way Association, an organization for professionals who work in the area of expropriation.

Within the Shreveport community, Ms. Lafargue is involved in the outreach programs in the Allendale neighborhood sponsored by First United Methodist Church and Community Renewal. She also advocates against domestic violence through the Shreveport Bar Foundation Pro Bono Project and has led the Foundation's focus to provide legal counsel for victims of domestic violence. The organization also partners with the Providence House for added assistance and support.
