eForms
If this is your first time you've purchased an eForm from Nolo's website, we recommend that you read, print out, and follow these instructions.
The computer you use to purchase an eForm must be the same computer you will download it to.
Wait until you're on the computer you want to download the eForm to before making your purchase. After you've downloaded the file, you will be able to "transfer" it to another computer by copying it to external media or by email.
Note that you will not be able to download this file if:
- cookies are disabled on your computer, or
- a firewall prevents you from downloading files from the Internet.
A program to expand the ZIP archive. To open the file that is downloaded after you purchase an eForm, you need a decompression utility, like IZArc (for Windows) or StuffIt Expander (for Macintosh). (Both of which can be downloaded for free.)
A word processing program. To open, fill out and print eForm, you need a word processor that "reads" RTF (rich text format) files. Most likely, you already have one on your computer:
- Windows 2000, XP, and Vista all come with WordPad, an RTF-compatible word processor.
- Macintosh OS X comes with TextEdit, an RTF-compatible word processor; non-OS X users need Word 5.0 or greater, WordPerfect 2.1 or greater, or another RTF-compatible word processor.
To download, expand, and use Nolo eForms:
- Download the eForm, which is formatted as a ZIP file.
- Expand the ZIP file you just downloaded.
- Double click the RTF file of your eForm.
More detailed instructions are provided below.
- Click the "Download Now" button to begin downloading the eForm ZIP file to your computer.
- Write down the location and names of the file and the folder that you download to. We recommend creating a folder named "Nolo downloads" on your computer's Desktop to download to.
- Expand the ZIP file, using a decompression utility, like IZArc (for Windows) or StuffIt Expander (for Macintosh). If you need additional help on extracting files, consult your decompression utility's Help menu.
- Find and open the folder you extracted the .ZIP archive to. It'll contain a new folder with two RTF files -- the eForm and instructions on how to use it.
- Open your eForm and instructions by double clicking each RTF file.
- Fill-in the eForm, following the instructions provided.
- When the form is completed, you can save and print it.
TIP: Use the "File > Save As" command to rename your completed eForm file so that you don't overwrite the original version.
